2026 IBF CONVENTION IN VIETNAM?
On June 3rd, VBO President Dr. Lim Song attended 40th IBF Convention in Atlantic city, USA. There, Dr. Song made a formal proposal to host 2026 IBF Convention in Vietnam.
The global convention bring together 300~400 experts in the professional boxing industry across the world.
Hosting a Global Convention for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) in Vietnam would offer a multitude of benefits, not just for the boxing community but for the country as a whole.
1. Elevating Vietnam's Boxing Profile:
Global Recognition: Hosting a major IBF event would significantly raise Vietnam's standing in the international boxing world. It would put the country on the map as a serious contender for future top-tier boxing events and potentially world title fights.
Showcasing Local Talent: It would provide an unparalleled platform for Vietnamese boxers, coaches, and officials to interact with global leaders, learn best practices, and gain exposure. This could accelerate the development of local boxing talent and potentially lead to more Vietnamese champions on the world stage.
Professional Development: The convention would likely include seminars, training courses, and certification programs for referees, judges, and coaches, significantly improving the quality and professionalism of Vietnamese boxing personnel.

Chương trình do Peter Maniatis Events – một trong những đơn vị ủng hộ boxing chuyên nghiệp lớn nhất nước Úc – tổ chức.

The promotion comes courtesy of one of the country's biggest supporters of professional boxing Peter Maniatis Events.

VẬY RỐT CUỘC CÓ GÌ TO TÁT?
Các bạn thân mến – có rất nhiều bình luận xoay quanh trận đấu vừa qua của Trần Văn Thảo tại Tokyo. Nhiều ý kiến mang tính động viên, nhưng cũng không ít những lời chỉ trích khá gay gắt.

Nghe có vẻ phóng đại? Vậy hãy đọc tiếp.
Nhật Bản hiện đang sở hữu 5 võ sĩ hàng đầu thế giới ở hạng cân của Trần Văn Thảo, và 8 người trong top 10.
Điều này là cực kỳ hiếm thấy!
Không một quốc gia nào khác thống trị một hạng cân danh giá như vậy – kể cả Hoa Kỳ!
Và đừng quên, Nhật Bản còn có "quái vật" Naoya Inoue, người được xem là võ sĩ hay nhất thế giới hiện nay.
Trần Văn Thảo vừa thượng đài với một tay đấm được dự đoán sẽ là ngôi sao tương lai của Nhật Bản ở hạng Bantamweight – và điều đó hoàn toàn hợp lý vì anh ta từng là vô địch thế giới nghiệp dư.

Tôi đã tham gia boxing quốc tế nhiều năm, và không bao giờ dùng từ “huyền thoại” hay “người hùng” một cách tùy tiện.

WBO Asia Pacific Title Bout Set for Sunday in Tokyo
This Sunday, June 9, 2025, Vietnamese boxer Trần Văn Thảo will face Japan’s Tomoya Tsuboi at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo.
The bout is part of the Prime Video Boxing 13 event and will be contested for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight Title.
Trần Văn Thảo (18-1, 10 KOs), known as “The Trigger,” is one of Vietnam’s most accomplished professional fighters, with experience fighting across Asia and a reputation for sharp counterpunching and ring control.
His opponent, Tomoya Tsuboi, is a decorated Japanese amateur who won gold at the 2021 AIBA World Championships and bronze medals at both the 2022 Asian Games and Asian Amateur Championships.
Tsuboi turned professional in March 2025 and won his debut by second-round stoppage against Boonrueang Phayom.
This matchup pits Thảo’s professional experience against Tsuboi’s elite amateur pedigree, with regional title stakes and future world rankings on the line.

Vietnamese boxer Nguyễn Văn Hải will face Australian champion Ibrahim Balla for the IBF Australasia Lightweight title on July 19th at Selkirk Stadium, marking the first time a Vietnamese fighter competes for a major boxing title in Australia.
The bout, made possible by the Vietnam Boxing Organization and VSP Boxing, pits the seasoned amateur and “Hanoi Hitman” (7-3) against the highly regarded Balla (17-3), who boasts recent victories over Jalen Tait and Youssef Dib.
“I will show Australia what a warrior from Hanoi looks like,” Hải said. “I will bring the belt and the glory to Vietnam.”

The event will be held at Australia's Selkirk Stadium, and will be the first time a Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxer has fought for a prestigious title in that country.
Ibrahim Balla (17-3) is one of Australia’s best fight talents, and has taken major scalps such as Jalen Tait and Youssef Dib in his recent wins.
The "Hanoi Hitman" Nguyễn Văn Hải is a highly experienced amateur, but with a pro record of 7 wins and 3 loss, will be less favored than his opponent. But none of that matters.

Sự kiện sẽ được tổ chức tại Sân vận động Selkirk của Úc và sẽ là lần đầu tiên một võ sĩ Việt Nam chiến đấu để giành một danh hiệu uy tín tại quốc gia này.

NGUYỄN HẢI ĐĂNG CỦA VIỆT NAM CHUẨN BỊ RA MẮT QUYỀN ANH CHUYÊN NGHIỆP TẠI ÚC
Mới chỉ 19 tuổi, võ sĩ - Nguyễn Hải Đăng với biệt danh trên sàn đấu là Đăng Nhỏ – sẽ chính thức bước vào hành trình thi đấu quyền Anh chuyên nghiệp của mình. Vào ngày 13 tháng 6 tới đây, tay đấm trẻ đến từ Hải Đăng này sẽ thi đấu trận ra mắt trong khuôn khổ 4 hiệp, hạng cân 72kg tại Q Room, Melbourne, Úc.

CHÚNG TÔI SẮP ĐẾN ÚC !!
Hai võ sĩ Việt Nam Thái Hoàng Huy và Nguyễn Hải Đăng đã nộp hồ sơ xin visa và dự kiến sẽ thi đấu tại Melbourne, Úc vào ngày 13 tháng 6 tới đây.
Các võ sĩ sẽ tranh tài tại sự kiện do cựu vô địch hạng nặng Lucas Browne làm chủ trì, được tổ chức tại Q ROOM, Thomastown.
Thái Hoàng Huy (5 thắng – 2 thua) sẽ thi đấu 6 hiệp ở hạng Siêu lông (59kg), trong khi Nguyễn Hải Đăng sẽ có màn ra mắt chuyên nghiệp ở hạng Trung (72kg) với trận đấu 4 hiệp.

Amateur vs Professional boxer...WHO WINS?
NGHIỆP DƯ VÀ CHUYÊN NGHIỆP - AI THẮNG?
Đã có rất nhiều trận đấu hấp dẫn qua các năm giữa các tay đấm nghiệp dư nhanh nhẹn, kỹ thuật và các võ sĩ chuyên nghiệp dày dạn kinh nghiệm.
VSP PRO đã đưa Mark John Yap từ Philippines 🇵🇭 đến Việt Nam để thi đấu với tay đấm nghiệp dư triển vọng Nguyễn Hà Minh trong một trận đấu biểu diễn chuyên nghiệp.
Công bằng mà nói, Mark Yap (người có 34 trận thắng chuyên nghiệp) đã không tập luyện nghiêm túc cho trận này, mà chỉ xem nó như một buổi khởi động để duy trì cảm giác thi đấu cho các trận sắp tới.
Anh ấy rõ ràng trông hơi “mềm” ở vòng bụng và thi đấu khá thoải mái, ung dung.
Ngược lại, Nguyễn Hà Minh trông TUYỆT VỜI!
Anh ấy có vẻ ngoài của một siêu sao thực thụ, và còn có thành tích nổi bật tại các giải đấu nghiệp dư trong nước.
Ngay ở hiệp đầu tiên, Nguyễn Hà Minh đã thể hiện phong độ tốt nhất của mình.
Anh khiến đối thủ "lên lớp" với tốc độ và những góc đánh thông minh, đồng thời trêu ngươi tay đấm người Philippines bằng những cú đấm thẳng như tia laser.
Trong khi đó, Mark John Yap trông như vừa ngủ dậy và đang vội vã đi tìm bữa sáng!
Hiệp 2 cũng có kịch bản tương tự, tuy nhiên về cuối hiệp, Mark Yap bắt đầu lấy lại cảm giác thi đấu, cắt góc và dồn ép “thần đồng” Việt Nam.
Hai hiệp cuối hoàn toàn thuộc về tay đấm chuyên nghiệp Mark Yap.

Great news for local Vietnamese fighters is the "hot off the press" announcement of the OPBF's upgraded Executive team - and the inclusion of the locally based Lim Song.
VBO's president Dr. Lim Song has accepted the role of Asia Region Coordinator along with Samson Iu and John Hoang of KBM.
In this role, Dr. Song will coordinate OPBF events in Asia with particular focus on South Asia, which includes all OPBF titles in Vietnam.
All promoters are requested to submit their fight proposal to Dr. Song for support and guidance.

In what is set to be a monumental moment for Papua New Guinea's boxing scene, Fidelis Laia is gearing up to make his professional boxing debut on March 22nd at the iconic Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Laia, a two-time national champion, will face off against Australia's undefeated Jayden "the Bullet" Buan in a 63.5 kg super lightweight bout.
This iconic moment forms part of a massive Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Promotions card, headlined by former world champion George Kambosos - the man who famously dethroned Teofimo Lopez.
Laia's opportunity to shine on the international stage was made possible through a collaborative effort by VSP Promotions and Paul Nasari from Neutral Corner Promotions in Australia.
Both organizations are dedicated to promoting the growth of boxing, and have already hosted PNG prospects Junior Kauko Raka and Jamie Chang on previous shows in Australia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The 30-year-old Laia expressed his excitement and gratitude for this opportunity.
"I'm over the moon to be representing Papua New Guinea in my first professional fight. This means a lot to me, as I've never competed at this level before."
Laia, a former taekwondo blackbelt, switched to boxing in 2015. He has since become a two-time national champion in two different weight classes, winning the 67 kg and 71 kg titles.
Laia acknowledges that his debut against Buan will be a tough challenge.
"I'm the national champion for the 67 kg, but for my pro debut, we're fighting in the 63.5 kg super lightweight division."
Despite the challenges, Laia is confident in his abilities and is training tirelessly with his coach, Ephraim Montoru.
"We're training 7 days a week, and we're looking forward to the fight. We know this is an extremely difficult challenge, but we aim to put Papua New Guinea on the map."
Laia's motivation for turning pro is to provide for his two children.
"Boxing is where I find peace. I also decided to take up pro boxing to earn some money, and help take care of my children."

DOES VIETNAM NEED A PRO COMMISSION ?
Yes - professional boxing requires a regulatory environment in which to operate, and the good news is - VIETNAM already has one !
The Vietnam Boxing Organization - VBO
Should there be additional commissions?
Or in fact an alternative to take it's place ?
Lots of misinformation on this topic, so let me contribute what I have learned in the many years I have been associated with pro boxing.
Regulators for professional boxing around the world have historically shown huge differences in both competency and ethical approaches to the sport.
In an attempt to work towards acceptable global standards, these are some of the criteria that both existing regulators and the industry record keeper BoxRec agree upon, and strive for :
1.The Pro Commission must have
NO AFFILIATIONS with AMATEUR BOXING.
Hence - VBF and HBF can not be the appropriate professional regulatory body for boxing here in Vietnam.
2.The Pro Commission must meet acceptable International standards.
This recognition will often be formalized with bilateral agreements between countries to denote that they are agreeable that the mutual standards are upheld, and allows for the trusted interchange of professional boxers.
3. The recognition of the Commission competency will also progress to the ability to communicate results of professional events to the industry record keeper BoxRec.
The stringent requirements to be endorsed as a professional regulator, manifest in far more accurate and valuable data for BoxRec.
This is a huge asset to an industry where in sadder times, results were often manufactured or misrepresented.
4. The professional boxing industry is loathe to accept or approve "multiple commissions" in a country, especially if a new player.
The legacy of multiple commissions in various regions has played out very poorly - often with an erosion in standards, commercial viability, and a strong bias towards imbibed cronyism.
Enough said - Vietnam 🇻🇳 already has a professional boxing commission.
So if the infighting and self interest subside, we are now armed and ready to make
VIETNAM a WORLD LEADING FIGHT BRAND !!
On the subject of Pro Commissions, and what they actually do, here are some basics :

VIETNAM PRO BOXING - SEE THE WORLD !

Here's a bit of information for Vietnam boxers to get you started :
How does a Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxer get to experience the thrill of competing in a foreign event ??
Vietnam has next to no shows for professional boxers right now, so most are asking me how do they get a chance to compete outside the country.
Lot's of misinformation and misunderstanding doing the rounds in Vietnam, so here's some basic insights that you might find helpful.
VIETNAM 🇻🇳 PRO BOXERS - FOREIGN EVENTS
To compete in professional bouts overseas, Vietnam boxers must meet specific requirements. VSP Promotions helps facilitate overseas fights for Vietnam boxers.
Most international promoters and commissions generally require:
1. At least 2-3 professional bouts listed in BoxRec.
2. A valid professional boxing license (VBO)
3. Medical clearance, sometimes including a brain scan and blood tests.
International promoters often require boxers that fulfill one of these three categories :
1. 4-6 round bouts: Typically for less experienced boxers, with smaller purses - $200-500 per round.
2. 6-8 round fights: For higher-end boxers, with larger purses. $2000-4000 per fight.
3. Title matches: Usually 10-12 rounds, requiring a strong record and sanctioning body ranking. Purses can vary a lot, depending on weight class and the title, but $4000-30,000 is typical.
Eligibility Criteria for Title Matches
1. Minimum 10 wins.
2. Wins in last 2 fights.
3. Sanctioning body ranking.
4. High-level amateur record.
The international promoter is responsible for :
The contract for the bout and invitation letter to the boxer and any other team members.
The contract will also detail the Promoter's obligation to provide Air tickets, visas, transfers, the agreed prize money, accommodation, meals or a meal allowance in cash (per diems)
How does a Vietnam boxer register :
1. You must register with your local commission - Vietnam Boxing Organization (VBO)
2. Advise your interest with VSP Promotions, or any another reputable promoter, that can market you to overseas promoters, and inform them of your availability to fight.
3. If you are a registered amateur, you must seek an approval letter from VBF or HBF endorsing that you can be made available for a specified international pro bout.
Travel and Licensing Requirements
1. You will need to hold a valid passport with at least six months' validity.
2. Obtain a visa for the country where the fight will take place, if required.
The foreign promoter will pay for this.
3. Register with the athletic commission or governing body of the country where the fight will take place.

HBF boss Mr. Nguyễn Vinh Nghi is only relatively new to his role - but has already made a huge impact for Vietnam 🇻🇳 professional boxing.

Dear Partners,
I would like to take this moment to first wish you and your family a safe and blessed holiday season.
This annual report serves as a benchmark for our progress and a commitment to transparency in our operations. In 2024, a notable decline occurred in the number of professional boxing events held domestically. This downturn was primarily attributed to the cessation of grassroots events by VSP Promotions, a key promoter that played a crucial role in introducing new talent to the domestic professional boxing scene.
The challenges faced in organizing professional boxing events in Vietnam intensified in 2024 compared to the previous year, a reflection of the current market conditions. We anticipate this trend to persist in 2025 due to the continued existence of an unsupportive environment for event organizers, fostered by the local amateur boxing federation.
VBO organized the gathering of 10 commissions in Asia in 8/2024. It is our view that Asia has a fundamental challenge in how boxing is managed and supervised. Standardization and coherent cooperation models that have actionable and measurable outcomes will need to be developed in order to create more regional opportunities for the industry participants.

DAO TO FIGHT AT TAIPEI ARENA ON DEC 21
It's like a scene from Gladiator 2 !!
Taiwan has long been a haven for amateur boxing talent, and are now slowly testing the waters in the professional format.
This month, Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxer Tran Tan Quang Dao ventures to Taiwan to take on one of their best, and the action will go down at the prestigious Taipei Arena.
That's a quantum leap from a guy rated one of the most promising at VSP PRO, and throwing leather at VSP Gym !
Here's the story :
Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxer Tran Tan Quang Dao is set to fight one of one of Taiwan's emerging stars at the Taipei Arena on December 21st.
Kai Yu Hsieh is an unbeaten prospect and rapidly making a name for himself in the boxing world. With a perfect record of 2 wins, both victories were dominant shutout performances on points, showcasing advanced skills and technical prowess.
Hsieh's amateur background is equally impressive, having won the gold medal in the national amateur championships at 64kg.
But Hsieh's next bout against Tran Tan Quang Dao will be a significant test of his skills, and obviously a great opportunity to gain more experience and exposure.
But Tran Tan Quang Dao is on that similar path, and has implemented a "duck nobody" policy !
Identical to his opponent, Dao has already secured two wins, and many argue that he was unfortunate not to have added two more victories to his record. His two most recent bouts were closely contested, with some observers believing that the decisions could have gone in his favor.
That said, Dao is constantly seeking improvements to his craft along with new challenges, and his clash with Kai Yu Hsieh will be an excellent tribute to close out 2024.

HAI TO MAKE A SPLASH ON JEJU ISLAND !
The "Hanoi Hitman" looks to close out 2024 in Korea next month - and he promises to do so in devastating fashion !
Hai is booked to fight former national champ Min Guk Ju - a southpaw boxer with 9 wins to his credit.
The bout will take place on Jeju Island South Korea on December 15th.
The Seoul based boxer is certainly an interesting opponent, and there are many question marks surrounding his chances in a fight with the Vietnam star.
Min Guk Ju has not fought since October of last year, yet his decision to take on a tough opponent like Nguyễn Văn Hải suggests that he is very confident of recapturing his very best form.
It also speaks loudly of a boxer that is looking to fast track his world rankings.
Min Guk Ju was controversially beaten for the WBC Asia Continental title in China - a bout he lost narrowly on points despite knocking his opponent down in the contest.
He was then stopped in Japan by the unbeaten Chihiro Iwashita - a real "hell fight" where at any moment, either boxer could get have dropped, and both were tasting moments of success.
Suffice to say - the Korean boxer is high calibre, and with vengeance on his mind, will be looking to make a statement with a victory over the classy Nguyễn Văn Hải.

The "Hanoi Hitman" looks to close out 2024 in Korea next month - and he promises to do so in devastating fashion !
Hai is booked to fight former national champ Min Guk Ju - a southpaw boxer with 9 wins to his credit. The bout will take place on Jeju Island South Korea on December 15th.
The Seoul based boxer is certainly an interesting opponent, and there are many question marks surrounding his chances in a fight with the Vietnam star.
Min Guk Ju has not fought since October of last year, yet his decision to take on a tough opponent like Nguyễn Văn Hải suggests that he is very confident of recapturing his very best form.
It also speaks loudly of a boxer that is looking to fast track his world rankings.
Min Guk Ju was controversially beaten for the WBC Asia Continental title in China - a bout he lost narrowly on points despite knocking his opponent down in the contest.
He was then stopped in Japan by the unbeaten Chihiro Iwashita - a real "hell fight" where at any moment, either boxer could get have dropped, and both were tasting moments of success.

TWO YEARS AGO ALREADY !!
Bit of nostalgia here, but this FORTUNES OF WAR was an extremely fun event (despite the many dramas) and well worth revisiting. And you will see that there are lot's of familiar names on this historic fight card.
The Vietnam 🇻🇳 team was spearheaded by Dinh Hong Quân, a guy that had been on a winning run and was defending an IBF Title, but he was having lots of trouble with his weight in the lead up. He even collapsed at one stage and had to be resuscitated at one point !
We had top young prospects Lê Hoàng Hiep and Phan Minh Quân, who fought out of their skins against international pro boxers with more than 70 wins between them !
Nguyễn Văn Hải is obviously a legend on the local scene but had been inactive, so he was a bit of a "query" inclusion - yet he produced a memorable performance that culminated in two dramatic knockdowns.
But even more amazing was the debut of another Vietnam kid Thai Hoang Huy - this guy had never even boxed (he was a muay thai student that loved the idea of being a boxer !) And he went in with an opponent that had 14 knockouts in 15 wins - BIG BALLS !!
Suffice to say, the Vietnam 🇻🇳 team had a great experience and a lot of fun at this show - it was held at the beautiful Grand Ho Tram Resort in the coastal area of Vung Tau.
The visiting international team?
Well - some crazy talent on that side of the fence !
Philippines 🇵🇭 - Charly Suarez, Mark John Yap, Arnel Baconaje, Jetro Pabustan and Jon Jon Estrada.
These guys share plaudits as multiple national and regional title holders, with the unbeaten Suarez currently on the precipice of a world title.
Indonesia 🇮🇩 - Paisal Panjaitan - a really top unbeaten prospect who is now #2 in his country.
Defry Palulu - an Indonesia #2 and WBC belt holder.
South Korea 🇰🇷 - Chan Ho Song - an unbeaten 12-0 guy with blazing hands and a World Youth champ.
Thailand 🇹🇭 - Anuson Thonglueang - a top youth prospect with only one loss in 14 bouts, and who currently sits at #2 rated Welterweight in Thailand.

VAN HAI SET TO BE A BIG "HIT" IN SOUTH KOREA
Nguyễn Văn Hải, one of Vietnam's best known boxers, returns to the ring on December 15 in an 8-round showdown in South Korea.
And despite two losses in 2024, Hải has shown menacing form, foreshadowing a major victory at the Jeju Island event.
Following consecutive WBO and WBC title bid setbacks against undefeated, world-rated opponents, the man dubbed the "Hanoi Hitman" is poised for a big bounce back win.

Ben Keilty from Australia made his first trip to Vietnam, and acted as Supervisor for the exciting IBF Title bout between China and South Korea.
Daryl Peoples made the long trek from New Jersey, and the IBF President certainly added great caste to an already fantastic event.
His presence was also a great thrill to all the boxers that were competing, and his efforts to lend his support did not go unnoticed. A true gentleman, and a true boxing man.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR AT HOIANA RESORT
Some amazing and close bouts at the LEGENDARY International Boxing Event on Saturday night, which showcased 16 very talented fighters from 7 different countries.
Some scores were razor thin, where a few of the bouts could easily have been called a DRAW - but this one was !
Big kudos to future world title hopefuls Hu Longyi of China 🇨🇳, and Dennis Endar of the Philippines 🇵🇭.
This was a bout that had the makings of the fight of the night, and these two guys delivered on that with interest !
Lots of debate on who won, but no debate on this - these two are headed for the top of the class.
Hu Longyi is one of the most technically skilled fighters that VSP are seeing right now, and Dennis Endar has a style and voracious work rate to give anybody fits !
Huge performance from these two boys - you MUST add both fighters to your "Watch List" - they are definitely going places.

VIETNAM READY TO IMPRESS AT HOIANA
Three Vietnamese fighters have been selected to perform at the "Legendary" boxing event next Saturday night. The show will host fighters from 7 countries, and Vietnam has strong chances in their bouts.
Dinh Hong Quân is without doubt the most experienced of the trio, and this HCMC based boxer is a winner of IBF championship belts previously.
Quân will take on the current WBF champion from Indonesia, Paisal Panjaitan, a do or die style fighter who is very exciting to watch.
VBO will be adding to the international flavor, by inviting many more countries to Vietnam's first ever boxing convention. We will be hosting commissions, sanctioning bodies and industry participants from more than 12 countries - all coming together to make this sport prosper in the Asian region.

"DREAM BOY" WANTS THE VERY BEST NGAKA
South Korean prospect Lee Juyeong is hoping that fans get to see the very best version of Botswana's Moabi Ngaka come August 3rd.
The two fighters are scheduled to meet at the "Legendary" International boxing championship at the Hoiana Resort and Casino Vietnam.
A win for Ngaka is essential if he wants to keep alive his hopes for a WBF title shot.
But for the younger Lee Juyeong, his confidence is high of knocking out Ngaka, and is hoping that the African boxer is in his best shape and ready to put on a show.
"I know my opponent is a great boxer, and I respect that he will travel to fight me. But I know he has no match for a long time, and I hope this will not make him give a bad performance.

DENNIS ENDAR PRIMED FOR VIETNAM DEBUT
The Philippines runs very deep for talent in the flyweight class right now, and Davao's Dennis Endar is very indicative of the potential stars that are rapidly climbing those ranks.
The "Machine Gun" wll head to Vietnam next month to take on China's #1 Hu Longyi, a man many tipped to be a future world title contender. Longyi is a product of the Shenzen Jianzhi Pro Combat Academy, the same star factory that made main event boxer Zhu DianXing.
But how do we best compare the champion Hu Longyi with Dennis Endar?
BoxRec has Longyi listed at 41, with Endar at 82.
But more relevant is a common opponent - the unbeaten Angilou Dalogdog !
Dennis Endar fought a great battle with Dalogdog, only to lose by Unanimous Decision. It was a torrid bout, and it was obvious that both fighters would show improvements.
But what was more interesting is that Dalogdog faced China’s Hu Longyi at his very next appearance.
This was a far closer match, which Longyi "lost" by split decision, but to keep it real - to say that the Chinese boxer was "unlucky" with the judges is an understatement. Longyi also dropped Angilou Dalogdog in this quality match.
Now that is all water under the bridge !
That was July of last year, and both boxers have improved another galaxy since then.
And you would suspect that the Philippines 🇵🇭 boy may have the advantages in that regard.
The words coming out of MP Davao are sounding extremely confident !

JONNIEL LAURENTE WINS A THRILLER
Amazing fight last night between super talented southpaw Jestine Tesoro and Elorde prodigy Jonniel Laurente.
There was lots of to and fro action from these two dynamic fighters, who took the Philippines Games and Amusement Board Youth title the full ten rounds and to a points decision.
This was a cracking fight, and despite the UD (97-93 97-93 96-92), Jestine had plenty of great moments and was really impressive in this bout.
Great work by Jonniel Laurente, who will surely be testing himself on foreign soil again in the near future.

How do the two fighters line up ??:
Tran Quang Dao – this Vietnam fighter was lauded as the most improved performer of 2023, posting two excellent victories at VSP PRO, before a narrow and contentious points loss in his final bout that year.
The Hanoi boxer brings a continually evolving skillset to the ring – beautiful variety on the jab, nice distance and timing on counters, and he works to search for angles so that he can work on both his inside and long game.
Dao always provides a cerebral performance, and it will be very interesting to see where this technician is at for his first assignment of 2024.
Xu Senlin – this Chinese prospect arrives in Vietnam off the back of a last start stunning knockout performance in the amateur ranks.
Xu Senlin is a stablemate to the main event fighter, defending WBO champion Zhu DianXing, and fighters from that gym are famed for their cardio and durability. But this kid has power also, and his Vietnam opponent will need to be switched on for every second of this four rounder to ensure that he finishes on his feet.
Xu Senlin is very tall, and despite his moderate hand speed, he does pack plenty of firepower. This man from China spells DANGER !

South Korean 🇰🇷 hot prospect Lee Juyeong says he is destroying sparring partners ahead of his August 3rd clash in Vietnam with Moabi Ngaka.
The bout will occur at a huge international event to be held at the Hoiana Resort and Casino in Danang.
Lee Juyeong won two of his last three bouts, but was bitterly disappointed by his performance in a controversial points loss in January. But he is adament he will make amends against Botswana’s #1 boxer Moabi Ngaka.

3 VIETNAM BOXERS TO BECOME "LEGENDARY"
Vietnam Boxing Organization will preside over an historic international boxing event to be held in Danang on August 3rd.
The Hoiana Resort will play host to the "LEGENDARY" show, which will be headlined by WBO and IBF title fights, and attract boxers from China, South Korea,Philippines, Africa, USA and Indonesia.
Did we mention Vietnam ?
The great news is that 3 Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxers have been selected to compete - debutant Nguyễn Phi Khoa, and experienced pros Tran Tan Quang Dao and Dinh Hong Quân (a former IBF champion)
VBO would like to thank our hosts Hoiana Resort and Casino for making Vietnam boxers part of this great event, as it will provide a real incentive for other professionals who get way too few opportunities.

Đứng trước cơ hội cuối cùng để giành thêm vé cho Boxing Việt Nam dự Olympic Paris 2024, nữ võ sĩ Hà Thị Linh đã không bỏ lỡ cơ hội khi góp mặt trong trận play-off hạng cân 60kg.
Đối đầu Vilma Viitanen (Phần Lan), Hà Thị Linh có hiệp 1 thi đấu tốt với những pha chủ động vào đòn tầm gần, giúp cô giành chiến thắng 10-9 trên 4 bảng điểm của các giám định.
Sang hiệp 2, Viitanen tăng áp lực khi biết bị dẫn điểm. Hà Thị Linh đáp trả bằng các tổ hợp đòn đánh nặng khi di chuyển lùi. Điểm số 20-18, 20-18, 19-19, 19-19, 19-19 trong hiệp 2 khiến cả hai ứng viên đều phải nỗ lực trong hiệp đấu cuối.
Sang hiệp 3, Viitanen tiếp tục gây sức ép với hàng loạt pha rượt đuổi và ra đòn tầm gần uy lực. Cú móc trái mạnh khiến trọng tài phải đếm với Linh. Thể lực cả hai đã giảm xuống sau nhiều pha đổi đòn. Các pha trả đòn sau đó của Linh khiến Viitanen không thể đạt được hiệu quả trong những pha tấn công. Chung cuộc, Hà Thị Linh giành chiến thắng tính điểm 4-1, mang về tấm vé Olympic Paris 2024 thứ hai cho Boxing Việt Nam cùng người đồng đội Võ Thị Kim Ánh (54kg nữ).

Trong ngày ra quân, võ sĩ Nguyễn Văn Đương phải chạm trán một đối thủ tương đối mạnh. Đó là Jean Carlos Caicedo Pachito (Ecuador), người từng tham dự Olympic Paris.
Trước một đối thủ có trình độ và kinh nghiệm thi đấu tương đương, đại diện Việt Nam đã thi đấu chủ động. Anh tấn công từ khá sớm, đồng thời giữ cự ly mỗi khi cảm thấy đối thủ muốn chờ cơ hội phản đòn.
Trận đấu khép lại trong 3 hiệp, với chiến thắng bằng tính điểm dành cho Nguyễn Văn Đương. Anh sẽ thi đấu trận tiếp theo trong ngày 28/4 tới.

THAI HOANG HUY A VSP PRO ALUMNI
Former Muay Thai student Thai Hoang Huy ranks as one of the most active boxers in Vietnam, despite only embarking upon the sport a mere 18 months ago.
After an exhibition bout at Ho Tram, Huy decided to enter the professional ranks in 2O23, and despite his inexperience, won 4 of 6 bouts.
They say that boxing is a sport that affords you the opportunity to learn a lot about yourself whilst forging enduring friendships, and Huy has been fortunate to already share the ring with boxers from the Philippines and Africa.
It's in that regard that he enjoyed a lucky break.
Whilst competing in an event at Ho Tram, Huy was matched with Botswana's gun Moabi Ngaka.
Despite losing that bout, Thai Hoang Huy did enough to impress his African opponent, and he invited the Vietnam boxer to his country to compete on an international stage.
The RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO sees African nations take on an Asian Team comprising Vietnam, Philippines, China and India - and Thai Hoang Huy has earnt himself a "wildcard" spot at the event !
Huy will meet Zambia 🇿🇲 prospect David Kapusu, a man touted as a future African champion, in the opening bout of the show. Kapusu was a quality amateur before turning pro, and won his debut in promising fashion.
This is a significant test for Thai Hoang Huy, but a great honour to be opening an iconic International event, and as a former alumni, VSP wishes him lots of luck in Botswana on March 30th.

DINH QUAN vs YOJI SAITO
Kể từ "biến cố" với chiếc cân dẫn tới việc phải từ bỏ chiếc đai vô địch IBF Châu Á hạng nhẹ (lightweight, 61kg) hồi cuối năm 2022, Đinh Hồng Quân đã không có thêm một lần thượng đài nào trong hơn một năm vừa qua.
Thế nhưng, có một điều chắc chắn anh đã khẳng định trong lần thượng đài tiếp theo: lên hạng super-lightweight (63,5kg).
Ở trận đấu trở lại tại WBO Title Match: War in Paradise ngày 13 tháng 1 tới đây, Quân sẽ chạm trán đối thủ Yoji Saito - võ sĩ 28 tuổi người Nhật Bản đang được xếp hạng 2,5 sao trên BoxRec.
Nhìn qua bảng thành tích, Yoji Saito đang sở hữu 5 trận thắng - 4 trận thua cùng 2 kết quả hòa. Điểm đáng chú ý ở tiểu sử của võ sĩ người Nhật Bản chính là việc anh đều kết thúc các đối thủ trong những trận thắng của mình, và mới chỉ bị knockout một lần hồi tháng 3 năm ngoái.
Vậy, Đinh Hồng Quân có lợi thế nào trước tay đấm người Nhật.
Đầu tiên, Yoji Saito là võ sĩ thường xuyên thi đấu ở hạng super-featherweight, 59kg). Tức ở màn so tài sắp tới, anh sẽ phải tăng hai hạng cân, trong khi Quân chỉ phải lên một hạng cân.
Thứ hai, Đinh Hồng Quân đã trải qua các trận đấu kéo dài từ 10 tới 12 hiệp trong ba lần thượng đài gần nhất. Do đó, thể lực ở cuộc đối đầu kéo dài 8 hiệp sắp tới cùng Yoji Saito sẽ không phải vấn đề quá lớn.
Đó là thông tin trên bảng thành tích. Về thực tế, Yoji Saito là võ sĩ có lối đánh tấn công vũ bão ngay từ những hiệp đầu trận. Bằng chứng là 5 trận thắng knockout của võ sĩ này đều chủ yếu diễn ra trong các hiệp 1 và 2, trận thắng gần nhất cũng chỉ kéo dài tới hiệp 5.
Trái lại, hai trận thua gần đây của võ sĩ người Nhật Bản đều đến từ việc anh bị suy giảm thể lực trong các hiệp đấu cuối, dẫn tới việc mất thế trận hoặc bị knockout.
Không quá khó để nhận ra, với một đối thủ ở hạng cân trên và thường xuyên đấu nhiều hiệp như Đinh Hồng Quân, Yoji Saito sẽ cố gắng tạo áp lực ngay từ đầu hòng chiếm lĩnh điểm số. Đây sẽ là thử thách cho võ sĩ của Việt Nam khi phải thích nghi lại với việc thi đấu 8 hiệp, nơi Quân không có nhiều thời gian để thăm do hay thích nghi chiến thuật như các trận tranh đai.

Đinh Hồng Quân là một trong những võ sĩ chuyên nghiệp nổi bật của Boxing Việt Nam. Tay đấm sinh năm 1998 từng giành chức vô địch IBF Châu Á năm 2022 với một trận bảo vệ đai thành công.

A sensational boxing debut in October by Duong Duc Bao had plenty of people asking to see more - and more you shall see.
To say Bao was impressive in his first fight is an understatement.
He totally dominated a far more experienced boxer, and forced the stoppage. The 20 year old produced volume, power punches and created some nice angles off a southpaw stance. It was literally an overwhelming performance.
But matching fighters can be a difficult game.
A 7 times national kickboxing champion and 2019 Sea Games gold medalist named Pham Ba Hoi wants to debut as a pro boxer.
But hey, who the hell would want to fight a guy with this sort of resume ?

WBO IN KOREA
Nhà vô địch IBA thế giới Trần Văn Thảo và lão tướng Nguyễn Văn Hải du đấu tại Hàn Quốc
Ba võ sĩ Trần Văn Thảo, Nguyễn Văn Hải và Đinh Hồng Quân sẽ cùng nhau tranh tài trước các đối thủ nước ngoài tại sự kiện quyền anh chuyên nghiệp diễn ra ở Incheon, Hàn Quốc.
Cụ thể, sự kiện mà ba võ sĩ Việt Nam sẽ tham gia tranh tài là sự kiện do Cocky Buffalo tổ chức với tâm điểm là ba trận đấu tranh đai và bảo vệ đai vô địch.
Cuộc đối đầu chính của sự kiện là trận bảo vệ đai vô địch WBO Global hạng cân Minimumweight của nhà vô địch người Trung Quốc Dianxing Zhu (11-1, 10 KOs) trước đại diện đến từ Philippines Richard Garde (8-1, 7 KOs). Trước đó, tại sự kiện quyền Anh WBO Global Title Match diễn ra ở Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu tháng 11 vừa qua, nhà vô địch người Trung Quốc đã bảo vệ thành chiếc đai vô địch của mình khi đánh bại võ sĩ thách đấu từ Thái Lan Sanchai Yotboon.
Hai trận đấu tâm điểm khác của sự kiện là các cuộc so tài cho chiếc đai vô địch WBO Oriental giữa Olimjon Nazarov (28-5, 15 KOs) vs. Wulan Tuoleazi (15-5-2, 7 KOs) ở hạng cân Flyweight và Takahiro Tai (4-1, 4 KOs) vs. Lap Cheong Cheong (10-0, 4 KOs) ở hạng cân Super Flyweight.
Đặc biệt, sự kiện quyền anh chuyên nghiệp diễn ra tại Incheon, Hàn Quốc lần này thu hút được sự quan tâm lớn của người hâm mộ đến từ Việt Nam bởi sự tham gia của các võ sĩ Nguyễn Văn Hải, Trần Văn Thảo và Đinh Hồng Quân.
Lão tướng Nguyễn Văn Hải đang có một năm hoạt động tích cực khi liên tiếp tham gia các sự kiện quyền anh lớn nhỏ cả trong nước lẫn quốc tế. Lần gần nhất thượng đài tại sự kiện boxing quốc tế WBO Global Prelude, lão tướng của Việt Nam chỉ mất chưa tới 12 giây để hạ gục võ sĩ người Bangladesh Abdul Motalib.
Mặt khác, nhà vô địch IBA thế giới Trần Văn Thảo cũng không hề kém cạnh người đàn anh khi đã có một năm 2023 thành công. Trần Văn Thảo đã đánh bại võ sĩ người Mexico giàu kinh nghiệm Kenbun Torres trong lần tái xuất ở sự kiện quyền Anh WBO Global Title Match để nâng thành tích chuyên nghiệp của mình lên con số 16-1 ấn tượng.

VSP PRO BOXERS GAIN "RECOGNITION"
Lots of great bouts and individual performances at VSP PRO this year, and it's fantastic to see local businesses acknowledging all the hard work that our fighters put in.
Thai Hoang Huy has been one of the most prolific boxers on the circuit, competing in 6 bouts for a 4 win and 2 loss record. His most recent bout was at The Grand Ho Tram where he got to battle Botswana #1 - a huge achievement considering Huy has only been boxing for a year.
This week the popular nightspot Palazzo (located in the Sheraton hotel) acknowledged Thai Hoang Huy and their ongoing support.

NEW FACES AND FAMILIAR FACES DECEMBER 23
VSP PR0 11 is just around the corner and promises to unearth some future stars once again.
But amongst the host of new faces, December 23 will see the return of some of the more regular and better known VSP PRO competitors.
Tran Tan Quang Dao is arguably the most improved boxer this year, and will return to the ring for VSP PRO 11.
Despite losing his first two bouts against top opposition, the Hanoi fighter regrouped, and quickly responded with two tradesman-like wins on the bounce. Dao produced the best boxing performance of the night in his most recent victory in August, working off a beautiful jab and landing nice combinations on the inside.
Tran Tan Quang Dao has proved a super popular fixture at VSP PRO this year, and we look forward to seeing more of this guy on December 23.

HANOI "HITMAN" IN KOREA "MEGA FIGHT"
Vietnam's #1 boxer Nguyễn Văn Hải has shot up the rankings since going pro, so fast in fact, that he has been offered a fight in Korea next month against a world class opponent.
A multiple national champion in the amateurs, Nguyễn Văn Hải has won 5 of 6 since going pro - and has been extremely impressive since doing so.
The lone blemish for the VSP boxer was a loss to star Philippines lightweight Jerald Into, an unbeaten 9-0 southpaw who Hải faced after more than two years out of the ring.
Nguyễn Văn Hải caused a media sensation at his most recent performance, knocking out an unbeaten foreign boxer with his very first punch. Bangladesh boxer Abdul Mottalib was the victim of an overhand right, and suffered his first loss in 9 fights at the hands of the ruthless Vietnam champion.
The "Hanoi Hitman" will star for Vietnam 🇻🇳 at a huge international event to be held at the Paradise City Casino on January 13th, with news on his opponent and fight card coming soon.
Nguyễn Văn Hải will be in Ho Chi Minh City on December 23rd, where he will perform a 6 round exhibition at VSP PRO in preparation for the big match in Korea.

VIETNAM TRIO MAKING WAVES IN TAIWAN
There is little doubt that Vietnam have made significant progress in the professional fight sport in recent times - both in the sign up of new boxers, and also, the vastly elevated standards of referees and judges. This is in no small part attributed to the existence of Vietnam Boxing Organization, who now enable pro bouts to be properly regulated and internationally accredited.
Testament to the hard work of all, 3 🇻🇳 Viets will be rewarded with a trip to Taiwan on December 16th to take part in an event there.
16 year old prospect Dinh Minh Tuan and Cocky Buffalo's Pham Huu Thuong will compete in 4 round bouts, and both have excellent chances, being recent winners at VSP PRO.
Nguyen Nhu Duong (VBO Official) has been an impressive performer this year in the role of officiating bouts, and will create some history by lending his skills to the Taiwan event.
The inclusion of the Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxers was made possible by VSP Promotions, who are looking forward to providing lots of international opportunities to local performers in 2024.
The Taiwan show will be supervised by PBC, in collaboration with the Vietnam Boxing Organization.

NGUYỄN VĂN HẢI WARM UP BOUT DECEMBER 23
The "Hanoi Hitman" will return to VSP PRO this month, in advance of a major fight scheduled for Korea on January 13th.
Nguyễn Văn Hải is currently ranked pound for pound #1 in Vietnam, and it is expected that he will take on a world ranked opponent at the Paradise City Hotel and Casino in Incheon next month.
It is always a treat to see this Vietnam legend fight live, and it's a major coup for VSP PRO 11 to host an exhibition bout for the Hitman Hải on Saturday December 23rd.
And for those who have not been lucky enough to have experienced it before - a word of advice.

BOTSWANA BOXER TO RETURN TO HCMC
VSP PRO 11 is set to be the biggest and best of the year !
There are soooo many talented boxers that were itching to fight, so expect to see a huge card on December 23 (at this stage, we have at least 12 fights !)
And of special interest to boxing fans will be the return to Vietnam of Moabi Ngaka (pictured) - a recent winner at the Ho Tram RUMBLE in Vung Tau.
Moabi is a former youth champ in his native Botswana, and it's likely that he will perform a 6 round spar with Vietnam legend Nguyễn Văn Hải (who is a heavier weight class boxer)
Both fighters will use the VSP PRO show as a much needed "hit out" before heading to Korea for big fights at Paradise City on January 13th.

NGUYỄN VĂN HẢI IS TOP OF THE CHARTS !
It's no secret that Vietnam has plenty of boxing talent, and the industry's record keeper BoxRec has a unique algorithm that ranks boxers overall and in their respective weight classes.
BoxRec also compute a pound for pound list, and whilst these always open for intetesting debate, here is their latest compilation for Vietnam.
And there are some great names in that list - most especially Nguyễn Văn Hải, the King Truong Dinh Hoang and Vietnam's best known pro "Trigger" Tran Van Thao.

Botswana boxer Moabi Ngaka made history recently as the first African to fight in Vietnam.
And the boy revered as "the Eagle" had such a great time Ho Chi Minh City, that he says he wants to come back - ASAP !
"I really enjoyed the opportunity to get back into the ring again, and the Ho Tram show was like nothing I had previously experienced. And being the first African boxer, it made it very exciting. But the most memorable for me and my coach Simba was how friendly the Vietnam people are, and how much love they showed us. It will stay with me for my whole life".
"I heard that VSP are doing a show on December 23rd - and I want in !
I will be fighting in Korea in January, so it will be perfect preparation for me. I know Vietnam has some killers, so I like that vibe too - the Eagle is willing to fight anyone !!"
Moabi Ngaka is a confirmed starter for VSP PRO 11 on December 23rd, as is popular local boxer Thai Hoang Huy (pictured) who was the recent opponent of the Eagle at The Grand Ho Tram.

VSP Pro 10 - Đêm thi đấu Boxing chuyên nghiệp tại TP Hồ Chí Minh sẽ trở lại ngày 24/11 với 7 màn so tài của các võ sĩ trẻ.
Trong trận đấu chính, hai gương mặt tiềm năng ở hạng cân 49kg sẽ có màn ra mắt đầu tiên trên sàn đấu nhà nghề. Trần Minh Công - đại diện từ CLB Boxing TP. Hồ Chí Minh sẽ đón nhận thử thách lớn mang tên Hồ Nhật Sang - võ sĩ sinh năm 200 từng giành 2 HCV Boxing trẻ quốc gia 2015, 2016.
Ở trận đấu đấu áp chót, tay đấm Trương Ngô Gia Huy sau trận hòa tại VSP Pro 7, đang tìm kiếm chiến thắng đầu tiên trước đối thủ Hồ Minh Chiều, một tay đấm đang chập chững có các trải nghiệm đầu tiên sau tấm HCB Đại hội Đồng bằng Sông Cửu Long.

ANOTHER STEP FORWARD FOR VIETNAM!
During the WBO Global event at the Grand Ho Tram, another historic event took place. Vietnam Boxing Organization signed a cooperation agreement with Korea Boxing Federation (KBF). The agreement focuses around the technology transfer of professional boxing management system developed by VBO.
Chairman Lee of KBF said "History of professional boxing in Korea is over 80 years but VBO from Vietnam has managed to develop a system that is far better than what is being used in Korea. I have never seen such an advanced system for boxing like the one developed by VBO."
The system developed by VBO streamlines documentation process required in supervising a fight by more than 98%, saving countless hours by a commission using the system. What usually takes days to prepare can be done in less than an hour.
NOTE: Unlike in Vietnam, most of the countries around the world allows private organizations to use "Federation", "Association", or "Commission" in their names. KBF is a private organization as are most professional boxing commissions around the world.

VSP PRO YOUNG GUNS READY TO RUMBLE
VSP PRO has unearthed lots of hot prospects this year, and three of those that have shone will get their first taste of international competition tomorrow.
Phan Minh Quân, Le Hoàng Hiệp and Lê Tiến Dat all made weight today, and have significant bouts in South Korea on Sunday.
Quân v Uzbekistan Hiệp v Philippines Dat v South Korea so we are hoping for a big day for Vietnam and our boxers!!

WE SAVED THE BEST TO LAST !
This was the main event, and it was a cracking contest between two very promising featherweights.
Without doubt - the best fight of the night !
ĐỖ VĂN THIỆN NGÂN and ĐOÀN HOÀI NHỚ went non-stop, sharing plenty of great moments in a fight that rightfully could have gone either way.
The judges nod was a split decision win to the Ca Mau boxing team fighter ĐOÀN HOÀI NHỚ.
Very excited to see both of these top prospects in future bouts !

PHAM VĂN THÀNH PUTS ON CLASSY DISPLAY
It was a super impressive debut by southpaw Pham Van Thành to win the main undercard bout.
The super bantamweight contest was high level, and opponent Truong Ngo Gia Huy showed nice skills and movement throughout.
But it was the more consistent touches and ring control that won the judges, and the Binh Duong boxer Pham Van Tan scored the first of what is surely many wins to come.
