A wild card and late inclusion to next week’s “Fight for Supremacy” show is Quezon City boxer Franco Serafica. The 24 years young featherweight has had only 5 fights to date, but is showing lots of potential dosed with signs of better things in store.
The talented Serafica has had a more unique trajectory than most to make his welcome appearance at Tarlac - immersed deeply amongst a group of quality and far more experienced campaigners . Despite an obvious love for the sport of boxing, Franco has managed to balance studies with training, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship from Enderun Colleges at the end of 2020. The enormity of trying to stay athletically relevant while tackling a degree cannot be under stated, and it really pays homage to the discipline and focus of this promising young fighter.
Franco Serafica has been on the radar since early 2019, where he debuted with an unanimous victory over Jufel Salina, a fighter who interestingly won three fights on the bounce after this meeting. Whilst totally dominant, Serafica looked very raw, but it was impossible not to foreshadow potential improvement. His reflexes were great, he had a fast jab, and he was able to assess opportunities really well. The consensus was that this impressive win would not be his last!
The fast hands and loose style have become a trademark of what to expect from this flashy fighter, who trains out of the Omega Boxing gym in Cebu. The style has refined some, and the execution of shots is becoming more accurate, being a template that has produced 4 great wins in his 5 bouts to date. His lone loss was to the very good Jimboy Rosales, in a split decision that was really too close to call. Impressively, Franco followed his loss with a total monstering of Matthew Fondales in Cebu, a fight that ended in stoppage.
Franco Serafica turns his back on the books on Saturday April 24, when he returns to the ring to take on Mark Anthony Rotilles.
It has been famously quoted that an investment in knowledge pays the best interest, and it will prove more than ironic if Serafica’s embrace of entrepreneurship takes him far in his chosen sport.

The relentless punching machine that is Remon Basas returns this month, and matches up with rangy young southpaw Jestine Ace Tesoro.
The bout will signal a move to the heavier weight classes for Basas, but without doubt, Olivetti Gym will have him well prepared for the task. The 24 year old fighter is still very much on the improvement path, but has already racked up 6 wins, and has experienced good opponents like Delmar Pellio, Lorenz Ladrada and Franco Serafica.
The great thing that has characterized all his performances is that he always brings the heat! This kid is relentlessly working in the ring, and has a low looping style that sets up really effective body punches.
Jestine Ace Tesoro is a really promising type. He had good moments against JonJon Estrada, outgunned a very savvy Lorence Rosas, and then was narrowly beaten in Japan. But for Remon Basas, Tesoro is just another guy across the ring, and he will be bringing a bucket load of BAD BAD intentions to the party !

Perhaps Vietnam’s best known female fighter, tam is a tall southpaw fighter with fast hands and feet. She is good in both attack and in counterpunching, and very skilled at drawing opponents in and landing her shots. Nguyen Thi Tam is an outstanding young prospect that still has lots of improvement, especially as a potential professional. There is no doubt that she can become a world class pro in the future.

John Lawrence Ordonio achieved a stoppage win over outstanding young talent Jules Victoriano at QUEST FOR GLORY. It was his first match back since 2020 for the man known as The Equalizer, and what he lacked in timing, he made up for with ring guile and power. It was a match that both fighters will derive plenty of improvement from, and word is strong that a rematch is looking a possibility. This was a great tussle between Ordonio and Victoriano - definitely worth seeing a "take two"!
