For those fans that are yet to see Jason Buenaobra, you are in for a treat! He is an athletic southpaw, that uses distance and range exceptionally well. He has an inherently natural jab, and he often double pumps this to great effect. He is a really nice fighter to watch, more cut from the amateur cloth, as he is constantly favouring regular touches to the opponent, rather than overusing power shots. This style can be quite hard to find in Philippines boxing these days! This fighter, originally from Sorsogan City, has the ring monicker “Manefisto”, and this name no doubt references his ability to chart the downfall of his opposition.
Jason Buenaobra resumed from a long lay off, and took on Ladrada last December. Showing no signs of rust, “Manefisto” showed beautiful ring control from the southpaw stance, and dominated his opponent for much of the fight. The points loss doesn’t tell the whole story though, as he fought a better version of “Cerberus” Ladrada than Basas did, and he also enjoyed lots of great moments. That fight was also at featherweight, and no doubt, the move to super bantam will really assist his cause.
This one plays out as a total war!
Yes, Jason Buenaobra is the more experienced and technical boxer. But Basas is strong, and he also owns a swarming style that gives rivals no peace, and he will be looking to make this a very dogged, physical contest.

Jason Buenaobra returned to the winners list with an outstanding win against a rampaging Remon Basas at TIGER 2O22 Ultimate Knockout Challenge in Paranaque.
This match proved to be one of the best of the day, pitting Buenaobra southpaw skills and footwork against Basas relentless pressure and workrate.
These two fighters had a common previous foe in top Mindanao fighter Lorenz Ladrada,
and it was really pleasing to see the improvements that they had made since those battles. Basas looked relentlessly bullish and dangerous, and displayed enhanced foot speed in the bout.
This was a fine performance by Jason Buenaobra, he worked nicely off a backfoot jab, made clever angles, and mitigated the advances of Bad Bad Basas with classy point scoring touches.
Great showing by southpaw Jason Buenaobra, who dominated the ring position for most part, setting his combos up with slick and varied jabs, and quick feet shift to his right.
This again was an improved Basas, and whilst out maneuvered, he managed to corner Buenaobra at times and land heavy shots of his own. He kept his opponent thinking the entire fight, which was expected !

TIGER 2022 plays host to an array of top name fighters, but without doubt, one of the best match ups is Olivetti’s Remon Basas taking on Jason Buenaobra.
These two boxers could not be any more different in style, yet both are on an upward trajectory. Perhaps the only form line that unites them, is a common opponent in the form of the very talented Lorenz Ladrada.
Remon “Bad Bad” Basas showed promising signs in his first bout of 2021, losing a points battle to Ladrada. Whilst beaten on timing and speed, he showed lots of come forward, and even late into the final round, he still loomed dangerously. He followed up that effort with an excellent win over a vastly improved Marklin Itim, a super close affair that was underscored by a massive punch count for both fighters. Lorenz Ladrada closes out the year having just engaged in a closely contested battle with the irrepressible Jason Buenaobra. The year proved busy for Bukidnon's Ladrada, who chalked up 4 wins and an SD loss to the promising Gary Tamayo. Flair and footwork were his travelling companions, and in 2022, expect to see more improvements to his repertoire.
Buenaobra was a revelation! He really toiled throughout this match, constantly taking Ladrada out of his comfort zone. He did such a great job, this smart southpaw was able to keep Ladrada on the backfoot for much of their quality bout. The effort of Jason Buenaobra was top class, and excited to see what he can deliver in 2022, especially if he drops to a more suitable weight class.

Jason "Manefisto" Buenaobra brought the heat, and some nice technical tools to go with it, in a superb match up with Bukidnon's Lorenz Ladrada at UKC. Buenaobra pressed dangerously for all six rounds, and presented lots of problems for Ladrada from a constantly pivoting southpaw stance. It was an energetic display by Buenaobra, and one that fell just short on a hard to score bout. This was a great showing by Manefisto, who looks certain ask serious questions of rivals in future fights.

MICHAEL PENGUE NOW A WBC CHAMP !
Big congratulation to one of the most popular boxers to compete in Vietnam at VSP events. Mickey Pengue was twice a World Team member at the big Victory8 shows, and Vietnam fighters commented that the style of Pengue was their favourite amongst the visiting team.Michael Pengue was part of a crack international squad that fought in Vietnam in late 2019, and included pinoys Charly Suarez, Jenel Lausa and Virgel Vitor.
Perhaps Vietnam’s best known female fighter, tam is a tall southpaw fighter with fast hands and feet. She is good in both attack and in counterpunching, and very skilled at drawing opponents in and landing her shots. Nguyen Thi Tam is an outstanding young prospect that still has lots of improvement, especially as a potential professional. There is no doubt that she can become a world class pro in the future.

John Lawrence Ordonio achieved a stoppage win over outstanding young talent Jules Victoriano at QUEST FOR GLORY. It was his first match back since 2020 for the man known as The Equalizer, and what he lacked in timing, he made up for with ring guile and power. It was a match that both fighters will derive plenty of improvement from, and word is strong that a rematch is looking a possibility. This was a great tussle between Ordonio and Victoriano - definitely worth seeing a "take two"!
