Plenty of big names found reasons not to fight him.
Tim Tszyu called him out by name.
No Limit Boxing has locked in the Aussie's challenge for Erislandy Lara's WBA middleweight title — on home soil. Late November is the target window. Exact date and venue still to be confirmed, with Gold Coast, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth all sniffing around the show.
Lara (32-3-3, 19 KOs) is 43 and boxing's oldest reigning world champion. Slick Cuban southpaw. Four successful defences of the WBA belt he won in 2021. Never been stopped.
A nightmare, according to No Limit boss George Rose.
"He's a genius in there and spent a decade making the best in the world look silly," Rose said. "Plenty of big names have found reasons not to fight him. Tim wanted and called for him by name."
Tszyu (28-3, 18 KOs) is riding three straight wins, capped by a unanimous decision over Errol Spence Jr in Sydney in July.
His take?
"Spence was just the appetiser."
He wants the man with the belt. And with Jeff Fenech in the corner, he's chasing a second-division world title — a chapter of the Tszyu name that would be his alone.
Kostya conquered light welterweight. Tim wants middleweight gold in Australia.
