Vietnam will be the focal point of the best in boxing this November when VICTORY8 makes it's long awaited return. The event which promises to deliver the ultimate in culture and sports to Hanoi, will take place outdoors at the historic Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter of the capital. VICTORY8 pitches Vietnam's best and most promising boxers against the might of a World Team - a squad carefully selected for their variety of skills, styles and geography. And those attributes lead us to the gem of Africa - BOTSWANA !! This country is landlocked and nestled in the middle of the continent, and whilst famous for it's diamonds, it will surely become renowned soon for another commodity. BOXING !! Breaking news is that Vietnam will get it's first look at an African fighter this November, with Botwana #1 Moabi Ngaka confirmed to make the trip for VICTORY8. Ngaka had a great amateur career with over 70 fights, and has already scored 2 wins as a pro. It is expected that the champion Ngaka will compete in a 6 round bout at VICTORY8 as preparation for a huge match to be held in Botswana at the end of the year. It is likely that the African boxer will take on the Philippines hurtful puncher Mark John Yap as the main event. The Botswana contingent will also do a media conference in Hanoi detailing their big plans for their star's title match in December, and Yap will face off with his African foe in Vietnam to market the event. VSP PRO has unearthed lots of unheralded yet talented fighters so far, and our next installment on Saturday September 30th promises to continue the trend. One of six boxers that will make their debut is 52kg firebrand Lê Ngọc Minh Khoi - a 22 year old boxer who always looked destined for the pro ranks. The solidly built Dong Nai fighter has actually been around boxing since he was a kid, and even achieved a bronze medal at the nationals back in 2014. But his come forward and aggressive style always beckoned the professional format, and as destiny has it, the Team Manny boxer will make his long awaited first appearance at the VSP Gym in two weeks time. Khoi will take on Pham Lê Gia Huy of the Khang Anh Martial Art Club in HCMC, and for sure, this will be a hell fight between two very fiery combatants making their debuts.

"The Sniper" Ben Ligas is in career best shape to shock them at the beautiful coastal town of Burleigh Heads in Australia tomorrow night. Ligas 15-3 takes on Chile's Andre Campos 15-1 for the IBO Intercontinental Fly title, and is expected to be easy pickings for the South American. Campos had been destroying everything in his path in a 15 fight winning streak, before a points loss to world #1 Sunny Edwards in June of this year. The Chilean was only a fraction behind in that contest, and surely The Sniper represents a far easier task for him !! Breaking news is the announcement that Philippines Mark John Yap will fight in Bangkok later this month for the WBC Lightweight crown. Cagayan de Oro product Yap will challenge Thailand champion Apichet Petchmanee (15-1) for the belt that he secured back in late 2022. Petchmanee has been very dominant at home, and suffered his lone points loss abroad at Korakuen Hall against the outstanding Japanese boxer Katsuya Yasuda (10-0) Mark John Yap has been a revelation since fighting Charly Suarez in Manila one year ago. Vietnam's biggest boxing franchise VICTORY8 is trying to secure the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi for a huge event this November. The format showcases Vietnam's best fighters pitched against stars from around the world. The last time VICTORY8 was held, it attracted 25,000 people to the mystical turtle lake location. The event attracted more than 50 million views on local television and on-line platforms.

Charly Suarez turned away a scrappy challenge from Yohan Vasquez to enjoy a successful U.S. debut. after a ten-round, unanimous decision victory over Dominican Republic’s Vazquez. Scores were 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93 for Suarez in the opening bout of the evening. Action from bell to bell was entertaining and competitive, to the point where Vasquez (25-4, 20KOs) was disappointed when he heard the lopsided scores. Suarez landed the crisper combinations and cleaner punches but was forced to fend off Vasquez who effectively cut off the ring in the middleweights. Suarez—a 35-year-old from General Santos City, Philippines—regained control late in the fight to advance to 16-0 (9KOs). The bout was his third straight on the road, having previously posted wins in Vietnam last December and a come-from-behind 12th round stoppage of unbeaten Paul Fleming on March 15 in Sydney, Australia.

Minh Chiều có kinh nghiệm nhỉnh hơn và từng thi đấu boxing nghiệp dư, nhưng tay đấm 19 tuổi Tuấn Thành cũng cho thấy sự tự tin khi đôi công khá tốt. Hiệp 2 tiếp tục chứng kiến tốc độ di chuyển và đổi đòn của hai tấm đấm trẻ rất nhanh. Minh Chiều ghi điểm tích cực hơn với một số đòn tay sau và móc trúng đối thủ trong khi đòn đánh của Tuấn Thành đều không vượt qua được các tình huống phòng thủ high-guard của Minh Chiều. Hiệp 3 Tuấn Thành chủ động ép đài với tần suất cao hơn tích cực tung ra các tổ hợp đòn. Những tình huống Tuấn Thành ép được đối thủ vào ring và ra đòn jab, móc trúng đích giúp anh ghi điểm. Phải đến cuối hiệp khi Tuấn Thành bị mất đà tấn công trong tư thế chúi đầu về phía trước Minh Chiều mới có đòn đấm khá nguy hiểm. Hiệp 4 thế trận trở nên cân bằng khi Minh Chiều đáp trả đòn tích cực hơn và phá thế trận dồn ép của Tuấn Thành. Liên tiếp những phút giây thi đấu sau đó Ngọc Thiện có những đòn móc và upper-cut trúng đích chất lượng. Hệ quả trúng đòn nặng khiến miếng bảo vệ hàm của Tấn Thành rơi ra và anh cũng bị chảy máu mũi. Trước khi hiệp 1 khép lại Ngọc Thiện còn kịp tặng cho đàn em Tấn Thành combo đòn bài bản trúng mặt rất hiệu quả. Kịch bản ở hiệp 2 không thay đổi khi những đòn đánh của Tấn Thành chủ yếu là đòn jab không thể vượt qua thế thủ của Ngọc Thiện. Trong khi đó dù là đòn jab hay đấm móc Ngọc Thiện đều ghi điểm tốt khi đều ghim trúng phần mặt đối thủ. Trọng tài thậm chí phải dừng trận đấu để bác sỹ kiểm tra vết thương của Tấn Thành khi gương mặt anh đổ máu khá nhiều. Hiệp 3 mới trôi qua 1 phút Tấn Thành lại dính các đòn móc và tay sau khá nặng vào vùng giữa mặt. Một trận giao hữu thú vị giữa hai tay đấm rất trẻ mới 14 và 16 tuổi ở hạng 48 kg. Dù mang tính chất giao hữu nhưng chất lượng chuyên môn cuộc so găng giữa Võ Hoàng Hòa và Đinh Minh Tuấn khá tốt khi cả hai tay đấm trẻ này đã tập luyện bài bản và giành được nhiều thành tích ở các giải boxing nghiệp dư trẻ quốc gia. Hiệp 1 ghi nhận sự chủ động áp sát và có những combo đòn hiệu quả của Đinh Minh Tuấn. Trong khi đó Võ Hoàng Hoa có 1 đòn tay sau nặng ký khiến gương mặt của Minh Tuấn bật ngửa ra sau. Kịch bản của hai hiệp đấu kế tiếp chứng kiến sự máu lửa của Minh Tuấn khi tay đấm này liên tục ép góc và tung ra các combo đòn móc cực nhanh. Dẫu vậy, Hoàng Hoa cũng có những cú trả đòn tay sau chất lượng. Bước ngoặt chỉ đến ở nửa cuối hiệp 4 khi trong tình huống ép góc Minh Tuấn đấm móc tay trái khiến Hoàng Hoa loạng choạng mất thằng bằng trước khi dính tiếp cú móc phải cực nặng từ đối thủ khiến trọng tài buộc phải dừng đếm. Thực tế được chứng minh khi Khắc Dũng có những cú jab, body shot và đòn móc hiệu quả. Trong khi đó tay đấm trẻ Hải Biền cho thấy kỹ thuật ra đòn còn khá hạn chế. Hiệp 2 Khắc Dũng tiếp tục duy trì nhịp độ thi đấu chậm, dùng các cú jab tầm thấp trước khi ra đòn móc. Chiến thuật này tiếp tục cho thấy hiệu quả và tay đấm đến từ Hà Nội ghi điểm tốt. Trong khi đó Hải Biền tích cực di chuyển và ra đòn nhưng các tổ hợp đòn chưa thật nhuần nhuyễn. Kịch bản ở 2 hiệp cuối không có đột biến dù Khắc Dũng tiếp tục giữ nhịp đánh chậm vì thể lực đi xuống. Hải Biền không thể tận dụng được lợi thế sức trẻ, ngược lại, thi thoảng anh còn dính đòn đấm over-hand từ phía đối thủ. Tay đấm 28 tuổi dày dạn kinh nghiệm Lương Nguyễn Công Khải đánh dấu sự trở lại sàn boxing nhiều một thời gian khá dài nghỉ đánh vì chấn thương. Trong khi đó dù ít hơn đến 8 tuổi nhưng Trương Ngô Gia Huy cũng có thâm niên nhất định tập boxing và đạt thành tích ở giải boxing nghiệp dư quốc gia. Áp sát đối phương với thể thủ high-guard trước khi tung ra đòn jab và móc cực nặng, lối đánh của Công Khải tưởng như đơn giản nhưng đạt hiệu quả rất tốt. Đặc biệt lực đánh của tay đấm từng phải nghỉ dài vì chấn thương vẫn rất đáng nể. Vẫn lối thi đấu nhìn khá đơn giản, Công Khải ghi điểm với cú over-hand nặng ký trúng mặt đối thủ ngay đầu hiệp 2.Trong khi đó, ở những tình huống bị ép góc tay đấm trẻ Gia Huy cũng có những tình huống trả đòn bằng combo đấm móc trúng đích, nhưng lực đánh còn khá khiêm tốn. Hiệp 3 chứng kiến võ sỹ trẻ Gia Huy tích cực di chuyển và ra đòn nhưng những đòn đánh của anh thường đi trúng đôi găng đã thủ thế sẵn của Công Khải. Ngược lại, dù ra đòn ít hơn nhưng Công Khải có những cú over-hand, móc phải thực sự nặng ký và chất lượng. Hiệp đấu hai tay đấm vẫn không đẩy cao nhịp độ. Công Khải lộ rõ thể lực đi xuống và những đòn over-hand của anh cũng không còn tạo ra đột biến. Trong khi đó Gia Huy có những combo đấm móc phản đòn hiệu quả. Đây là hiệp đấu tay đấm 19 tuổi có lẽ là tìm thấy nhiều nhất đòn đấm trúng đích nhất trong cuộc so găng này. It was only July 29th that Hanoi boxer Nguyễn Khắc Dũng fought at VSP PRO, and plans were for the strongly built Lightweight to return to the ring in maybe 2 to 3 months. But a late withdrawal of the opponent of Binh Duong team's Truong Hai Bien this Saturday created an immediate chance to fight that Dũng simply could not refuse. Mystery surrounds the re-appearance of 19 year old prospect Truong Ngo Gia Huy, who will headline this Saturday night at VSP PRO 7. Huy has been boxing since he was 8 years old, and showed lots of ability at an early age. His training was rewarded with a National Youth title victory in 2020, but since then, he has gone missing from the Vietnam fight scene. But it was from seeing friends competing at VSP PRO that ignited his passion to fight once more : "Le Tien Dat is one of my friends from boxing in the amateurs, and I am very excited to see him perform so well in the pro boxing. He is really impressive. It gives me a lot of motivation to do well. Now it's my turn to shine !" Huy is prepared by the Ho Ch Minh Boxing Club and has a difficult task on debut. The King's Warrior Charly Suarez has just completed his preparations in Las Vegas for this Sunday’s fight, and reports he is in killer shape and more than ready to fight. Suarez will battle Dominican Yohan Vasquez 25-2, a hard hitter with 22 knockouts on his resume. The Davao son was able to get some fast paced rounds in with both sons of fabled Ferocious Fernando Vargas, and also share the ring with Chris Eubank jr (pictured). Prior to that, the champ worked with Philippines national team members back home in Baguio. Despite the calibre of his opponent, and the question marks surrounding his first bout in the US, Suarez will enter the ring a heavy favourite to put opponent Vasquez to the sword. Suarez v Vasquez will take place at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa Oklahoma this Sunday.

Ho Chi Minh Boxing Club prodigy Ngoan returns to VSP Gym this Saturday night with ambitions to add to her classy debut win in the professional ranks. A bronze medal winner at the national championships, Ngoan was impressive beating the feisty Huynh Ngoc Yen Phuong back in June of this year. But the task for Ngoan won't be an easy one ! She faces Hanoi Boxing Academy prospect Le Thu Hoai in what will be a high temp 70kg clash. Hoai started in boxing in 2019, and has already achieved a silver medal in the club tournament 2022, a bronze medal in the youth tournament 2022, and a bronze medal in the club tournament 2023. And she is only 17 years of age. Big potential these two girls. Great fight !!!

CEBU CITY, Philippines– Charly Suarez, the unbeaten and world-rated super featherweight contender nicknamed “King’s Warrior” will debut in the United States on August 26, 2023. The 34-year-old Olympian turned professional boxer will face Dominican Republic’s Yohan Vasquez in a non-title bout at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This will be Suarez’s first fight in five months. His most recent bout was nothing short of impressive as he wrested three regional titles and earned a world title bout. Last March 15, he went to Sydney Australia to challenge the erstwhile International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental, International Boxing Organization (IBO) Inter-Continental, and World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia super featherweight king Paul Fleming. The Filipino scored a technical knockout in the 12th round against Fleming for a resounding upset. The victory catapulted Suarez to No. 7 in the IBF super featherweight division, No. 10 in the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and No. 15 in the WBC. He remains unbeaten with 15 wins and nine knockouts. Besides the three regional titles, Suarez is also the IBF Asia super featherweight king. Meanwhile, Vasquez, 29, has a more experienced record. One of the most interesting inclusions at VSP PRO 7 is that if well known HCMC boxer Luong Nguyen Cong Khai. Pre 2020, the popular boxer was a regular on the local scene, but shoulder injuries continued to hamper his training and performances. So enough was enough! Khai finally submitted to a shoulder operation, which included a lengthy 6 month rehabilitation, and then taking things slowly to regain full functionality once more. And the news is GOOD ! King Khai is back on August 26th, and by all reports, he is ready to create havoc in the ring.!!

Emanuel Navarrete simply overwhelmed Oscar Valdez with his work rate in today's world title showdown between Mexico's two best. The scores were unanimous for Navarrete, but perhaps too wide, and 116-112 and even 115-113 may have been more accurate. Definitely a fight of the year contender.

The Hanoi Hitman Nguyễn Văn Hải has looked unstoppable in 2023, and he isn't finished just yet ! His most recent performance at the Grand Ho Tram was simply devastating, scoring a first punch knockout of the unbeaten 6-0 Abdul Mottalib. His run of good form has attracted the attention of South Korean promoters, who want to test the Vietnam boxer against their own this coming October. Nguyễn Văn Hải previously visited South Korea in 2018, when he impressively won an exhibition event in Seoul. "The Korean boxers are always in great condition and are very brave. Tuyển Boxing Nam Việt Nam kết thúc chuyến tập huấn và thi đấu kéo dài 1 tháng tại Uzbekistan. Trong chuyến tập huấn, cả đội đã tham gia thi đấu giải giao hữu giữa các nước cùng tập luyện tại Uzbekistan. Nguyễn Minh Cường và Nguyễn Văn Đương lần lượt giành 1 HCB và 1 HCĐ về cho Boxing Việt Nam. Sau khi kết thúc chuyến tập huấn này, các thành viên đội tuyển Boxing Nam Việt Nam tiếp tục chuẩn bị lên đường thi đấu giải Đài Loan mở rộng vào ngày 17/8. Giải đấu sẽ diễn ra trong 5 ngày. The King's Warrior Charly Suarez is enjoying quality sparring in Las Vegas in preparation for a ring return later this month. Davao boxer Suarez (15-0) will head to Oklahoma to take on Yohan Vasquez (25-3) in a ten round non title contest. The match represents a "stay busy" bout for Suarez, who was last seen fighting in Australia in March. He won in spectacular fashion on that occasion, defeating unbeaten champion Paul Fleming by last round knockout, and picking up 4 regional titles in the process.

This is the man that stands in the way of emerging Japanese star Mikito Nakano maintaining a perfect kill rate of pinoys on his unblemished fight record. Arnel Baconaje "The Silencer" meets Nakano next Tuesday night at the iconic Korakuen Hall, and flew out from Manila today with coach Toto Laurente. Mikito Nakano boasts a record of 7-0 with 6 knockouts, and most tellingly, he has been as brutal as he has been flawless with his pinoy body count. Arvin Yurong, KJ Natuplag, Juanito Paredes and Lorenz Ladrada - all quality boxers in their own right, but were slain and dispatched in body bags at the hands of the ruthless Japanese technician. But Arnel Baconaje is cut from different cloth, and having sparred numerous top opponents such as Naoya Inoue in Japan previously, he is better equipped than his predecessors for the impending battle. The Silencer's most recent outing was a RP title win over Jhon Gemino in May, so he will be heading to Japan confident that Nakano's dominance over pinoy fighters will be tested to the limit next Saturday.

Nakano has a formidable reputation, being unbeaten in 7 fights, resolving 6 of those with thudding stoppages. Le Ngoc Anh (left) was a very impressive winner at a recent event, and she was joined on Saturday night by the inimitable Le Thi Bang. Bang is arguably the best boxer that Vietnam has produced (of either gender) in recent years, and it was a thrill to see her lending her support to the competing boxers at VSP PRO 6.
