FULL FIGHT CARD - OCTOBER FIST UKC PRO BOXING SERIES XXXV

By Robert Hill

16 Bouts • Sunday, October 11, 2026
Elorde Sports Center, Sucat, Parañaque City, Manila

The UKC Pro Boxing Series XXXV — October Fist unveils a packed 16-bout program ar the Elorde Sports Center this Sunday, featuring championship action, established contenders, unbeaten prospects, returning fighters and a number of professional debuts.

The card is headlined by a battle of the unbeatens at flyweight, with 6-0 (5 KOs) prospect Mac “The Flash” Abila taking on reigning WBO Oriental Youth Champion Angelus “Pitbull” Pilapil (7-0, 3 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round showdown.

A second major attraction sees Malaysia's WBC Asian Silver Super Middleweight Champion Adam Farhan Nazrine face Thailand's veteran Sitthidet Banti for the vacant WBA Asia South Super Middleweight Championship.

🔥 MAIN EVENT

MAC MORRIS “THE FLASH” ABILA vs ANGELUS “PITBULL” PILAPIL
10 Rounds — Flyweight

A genuine battle of the unbeatens — and a significant step up for Abila.

The 6-0 (5 KOs) prospect from Polangui, Albay, fights out of the Elorde Fight Team and has stopped five of his six opponents.

Across the ring will be 22-year-old Angelus “Pitbull” Pilapil, 7-0 with three knockouts, from Dalaguete, Cebu and representing ARQ Boxing Stable.

Pilapil has publicly described Abila as “a very good boxer” ahead of the clash.

Pilapil won the vacant WBO Oriental Youth flyweight title on February 4, 2026, dominating South Korea's Dae San Yoon by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight 80-72.

🏆 CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT

ADAM FARHAN NAZRINE 🇲🇾 vs SITTHIDET BANTI 🇹🇭
10 Rounds — Super Middleweight
Vacant WBA Asia South Super Middleweight Championship

Malaysia versus Thailand headlines the championship portion of the card as reigning WBC Asian Silver Super Middleweight Champion Adam Farhan Nazrine challenges for another regional title against Sitthidet Banti.

Nazrine, 6-1 with five knockouts, is a 30-year-old southpaw standing 6'0" and fighting out of Kuala Lumpur. He won his WBC Asian Silver title on August 30, 2026 — notably at this same Elorde Sports Center — defeating Mandeep Singh.

Since suffering his only professional defeat in November 2025, Nazrine has put together an impressive run of victories in Thailand and the Philippines.

Banti, 35, from Bangkok, brings considerably more experience. With a record of 13-9, he is a seasoned regional veteran who has competed across several weight classes, including cruiserweight as recently as June 27, 2026 against Jed Morris.

Nazrine enters as the clear favourite on paper, but Banti's experience and durability give the challenger a seasoned opponent to deal with.

⭐ FEATURE BOUTS

LEBOY ATENCIO vs JUN BLAZO
8 Rounds — Featherweight

Reigning ABF Featherweight Champion Leboy Atencio (8-2) of Northern Samar returns against veteran Jun Blazo.

Atencio won his ABF title with a second-round knockout of Sukpasried Ponphitak in Thailand and has also challenged for the WBC Far East featherweight title against China's Wensong.

He brings valuable regional experience into the contest but will be looking to bounce back from his most recent defeat.

NICO RAMOS vs PETER ESTILLER
8 Rounds — Super Lightweight

Unbeaten OPBF #15-ranked super lightweight contender Nico Ramos, known as “The Pretty Boy,” returns against the tall and tricky Peter Estiller.

The Elorde Fight Team prospect is 6-0-1 with five knockouts and broke into the OPBF super lightweight top 15 in August 2026.

His most recent notable outing was an OPBF Silver title unification against Joshua Padual, a contest that has been described as a potential 2026 Fight of the Year candidate.

MARK TANGGAN vs CHRISTIAN GAGARIN
8 Rounds — Flyweight

Young and exciting Elorde Fight Team prospect Mark Tanggan gets a fresh start in a new weight class against Christian Gagarin.

MARIX DUCOT vs JAKE ROSAL

DOHENY STOPS BRYL BAYOGOS IN 4TH

DOHENY STOPS BRYL BAYOGOS IN 4TH

In the curtain raiser of the Inoue-Nery gigantic promotion at Tokyo Dome, former IBF junior feather champ TJ Doheny (26-4, 20 KOs), 121.75, decked an easy TKO victory over previously unbeaten Filipino Bryl Bayogos (7-1-1, 2 KOs), 121.5, at 2:51 of the fourth round in a scheduled eight on Monday.
Doheny quickly caught the still nervous and stiff Filipino and dropped him with solid body shots twice in the third, and followed up so furiously that the referee called a well-timed halt in round four, when Bayogos fell down again.
Doheny scored his fourth triumph in as many bouts in Japan since he dethroned then IBF ruler Ryosuke Iwasa on points in 2018.
The Irishman TJ, now residing in Australia for years, is gunning for a shot at “Monster” Naoya Inoue. Doheny had been supposed to fight Inoue should Luis Nery become unavailable by any inconvenience, but it eventually didn’t materialize with Nery successfully having made weight.

Why Olympic Boxers Aren’t Wearing Headgear Anymore

Why Olympic Boxers Aren’t Wearing Headgear Anymore

SOMETHING IS MISSING from Olympics boxing this year. Did you notice? It’s lot easier to see the faces of male boxers---taunting, grimacing, or smiling in all their Olympian glory. This year, the Olympics ditched boxing headgear for the first time since 1984, making it look a lot more like professional boxing.

The decision, according to statements from amateur boxing’s governing organization---the International Boxing Association, or AIBA---came down to safety. Counterintuitively, referees had to stop matches for head injuries (aka likely concussions) more often when boxers were wearing headgear, according to an AIBA study. But whether ditching headgear actually makes boxers safer---especially from non-concussion injuries---is, well, more complicated.

“This rule change was rather surprising for lot of people. There’s still lot of research that needs to be done,” says Cynthia Bir, a University of Southern California biomechanics researcher who has evaluated boxing equipment for USA Boxing. In fact, female Olympians will still be wearing headgear in boxing, due to lack of safety data. (AIBA did not respond to requests for comment.)

What almost everyone can agree on is that foam padding does little to protect against concussions and knockout blows. Punch hard enough, and you overwhelm the foam’s ability to absorb energy. “The headgear becomes less useful and then not useful,” says Blaine Hoshizaki, a head injury researcher at the University of Ottawa.

Plus, the headgear still leaves boxers vulnerable to punches to the jaw, which are most likely to cause concussions because they whip the head around. “Boxers know that to get the knockout, you need to make the head spin,” says Bir. “Jabs aren’t going to do much.” Your brain normally sits suspended in fluid; when your head whips around, the brain whips around too, the tissue stretching and compressing. This causes concussions.

But why would wearing headgear increase the rate of likely concussions? The AIBA’s study has a few theories: Headgear makes it tougher to see, so boxers can’t dodge as well. Or perhaps headgear creates a false sense of safety and boxers take more risks. It also makes the boxer’s head a bigger target.

Another matter to consider though: Concussions aren’t the only head injuries boxers get. “A lot of the long-term consequences of repetitive head trauma may be from many, many subconcussive blows over time,” says Charles Bernick, a neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Bernick has been following a group of professional boxers and MMA fighters since 2011, and he’s found that even the brains of fighters who have not reported concussions exhibit damage visible in MRI scans.

These subconcussive blows, which don’t have any immediately obvious symptoms, could also lead to chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, over time. “With concussions, you can see it and you can diagnose it,” says Hoshizaki. “The challenge is the ones you don’t see, don’t feel. This is I think the scary part.” Headgear could mitigate some of these blows. But it’s hard to study because it’s hard to measure how much brain damage these subconcussive blows actually cause; the same punch might cause damage in one person but not another because of the structure of their head or neck musculature.

The AIBA has tried to get more professional in recent years---the extra “A” in the acronym is a remnant from when it had “amateur” in its name. And the group made other changes for the Olympics this year: It changed the scoring system to bring it in line with the pro boxing and allowed professionals to qualify for the games. (Though only three are competing in Rio.) Pros have a good reason to not use headgear
TOP 5 COUNTRIES WITH THE MOST PRO BOXING EVENTS.
April 27, 2024

TOP 5 COUNTRIES WITH THE MOST PRO BOXING EVENTS.

According to Boxrec, there were 7,191 boxing events (63,573 bouts) in the past 12 months worldwide. USA 1,598 boxing events accounting for 27% of the total. That is more than the sum of the next 4 countries combined.

Boxing events are not necessarily connected to the wealth of a nation. Argentina, Mexico, and Russia are not known for their economic strength yet hosted 676, 488, and 294 events respectively in the last 12 months.

In comparison, Vietnam hosted 12 events in the same period. With over 100 million in population and one of the largest amateur boxer population, VBO estimates that Vietnam should be hosting approximately 100~200 events per year. That is roughly 15 events per month.

The question should be focused around how to make it easier for people to host boxing events, starting with 4 rounds of boxing focused on debuting boxers who are beginners in professional boxing. Safety of boxers are very important but often that concept is misused to scare noninformed public.

Most injuries that boxers sustain are from three main areas:
1. Not enough rest between fights.
2. Excessive weight reduction before the fight.
3. Previous injuries that are left unattended.

While mismatch can be a big problem, this is the fault of the referee/supervisor for not stopping the fight when needed. Unfortunately, this is one skill that can not be learned in a classroom but through experience. This is why developing high quality boxing ring officials is so important and difficult to do. No amount of training or certificates can replace actual experience in the ring. Just like boxers, officials also need consistent events to practice and sharpen their skills.

What are your thoughts to make 15 events/month a reality in Vietnam?

MATEO TAPIA READY FOR WORLD'S BEST

Mexican born Aussie Mateo Tapia came to Vietnam as a 20 year old and took on that country's fight legend Truong Dinh Hoang - a 10 times national champion and unbeaten pro. It was a hugely exciting, if not unnerving, experience for the young fighter.
Fast forward 5 years, and 16-0 Tapia is world ranked in a very hot middleweight division.
Mateo Tapia makes his return in Sydney tonight, and will meet Keiber Gonzalez 20-0 in what will surely be a launch towards a world title run.

VIETNAM GUEST WINS IN AMERICAN RETURN

Charly Suarez has been a regular visitor to Vietnam. He fought an exhibition bout with Nguyễn Văn Hải at Victory8 in Hanoi, and he won the WBC belt at Ho Tram against Indonesia’s champion Defry Palulu.
Today he was Stateside, winning his return bout in Corpus Christi Texas on a Top Rank event. Suarez broke his hand in August of last year, but resumed in style today in a near shutout win over America's Luis Coria.
It was an emphatic performance, and likely to earn Suarez a world title eliminator shot at his next outing.

SUAREZ SCARES OFF HENRY LEBRON TEAM

The Philippines' Charly Suarez always looks great in sparring, but apparently a session where the King's Warrior was "on fire" was witnessed by the coach of Henry Lebron - and was enough for them to immediately pull out of their world title eliminator next Saturday night.
Lebron has now been consigned to the "Top Rank Scaredy Cat" bench warmers list, and will be replaced by Luis Coria 15-6 in what is Suarez return from a broken hand last August.
A win for Suarez will guarantee him a world title eliminator at his next outing - and you can bet your bottom dollar it won't be Henry Lebron in the other corner !
Charly Suarez fights on a Top Rank show in Corpus Christi Texas next Saturday night April 13th.

SUAREZ BACK BETTER THAN EVER

The Philippines' best boxer Charly Suarez resumes next Saturday on a big Top Rank show in Corpus Christi Texas - 8 long months after sustaining a broken hand in August of last year.
Despite looking comfortable in a lopsided decision win, Suarez actually did the damage in round one against tough Yohan Vasquez, and was forced to fight the remainder of their bout in southpaw.
An incredible effort !
The King's Warrior Charly Suarez last fought in Vietnam in December 2022 (hence the Christmas tree !) and followed up his win at Ho Tram with a 4 title win in Australia over unbeaten star Paul Fleming.
Suarez has been promised a world title eliminator bout if successful in next week's American bout, and all his friends at VSP wish him a career defining performance on that big stage.
Good luck Charly boy !

YAP AND NGAKA BOTH WANTING WBF PRIZE

The countdown is on !
The Philippines' Mark John Yap and Botswana's Moabi Ngaka will be banging it out in 10 days time to decide the World Boxing Foundation International title.
And both countries are supremely confident of capturing the prestigious prize !

Those in the Yap camp say that this is the lightest they have seen the Journey Man prior to a big fight, and that his training has seen the experienced warrior ascend to new levels.
Moabi Ngaka is famed for his cardio, and has been reeling off 20km runs in amongst a torrid twice daily training schedule of sparring multiple partners at each session.
This will very definitely be a battle of Mark John Yap's experience and power versus the speed, movement and endurance of the younger and taller Moabi Ngaka.
But as they say, two dogs - one bone !!

VENGEANCE HAS A NEW NAME

Arnel Baconaje "The Silencer" has been one of the Philippines' outstanding boxers of recent years, and will get the opportunity to take his talents to an international stage later this month.
The Silencer will meet the man that many regard as the best prospect in Botswana - Steven Bagwasi.
This boxing prodigy has a 9-1 record, and is touted as a future world star by those in the know.
But Arnel Baconaje is not one for reputations, and whilst respectful of his quality opponent, is certainly not daunted. The RP National champ sees a spot for himself on the world stage, and knows that an emphatic win over a star like Bagwasi will cement his position.
Baconaje has been the victim of some horrible decisions in the last couple of years, so on the road against Steven Bagwasi, he will leave nothing to chance.
"I know I have to hurt him to get his respect.
This is my first time to fight an African, so I'm very excited. Tell him the Silencer is coming!"

THAI HOANG HUY A VSP PRO ALUMNI

THAI HOANG HUY A VSP PRO ALUMNI

Former Muay Thai student Thai Hoang Huy ranks as one of the most active boxers in Vietnam, despite only embarking upon the sport a mere 18 months ago.
After an exhibition bout at Ho Tram, Huy decided to enter the professional ranks in 2O23, and despite his inexperience, won 4 of 6 bouts.

They say that boxing is a sport that affords you the opportunity to learn a lot about yourself whilst forging enduring friendships, and Huy has been fortunate to already share the ring with boxers from the Philippines and Africa.
It's in that regard that he enjoyed a lucky break.

Whilst competing in an event at Ho Tram, Huy was matched with Botswana's gun Moabi Ngaka.
Despite losing that bout, Thai Hoang Huy did enough to impress his African opponent, and he invited the Vietnam boxer to his country to compete on an international stage.
The RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO sees African nations take on an Asian Team comprising Vietnam, Philippines, China and India - and Thai Hoang Huy has earnt himself a "wildcard" spot at the event !

Huy will meet Zambia 🇿🇲 prospect David Kapusu, a man touted as a future African champion, in the opening bout of the show. Kapusu was a quality amateur before turning pro, and won his debut in promising fashion.
This is a significant test for Thai Hoang Huy, but a great honour to be opening an iconic International event, and as a former alumni, VSP wishes him lots of luck in Botswana on March 30th.

TWO WEEKS TO GO - TAGPUNO IN AUSTRALIA
March 8, 2024

TWO WEEKS TO GO - TAGPUNO IN AUSTRALIA

Ferocious Fernando Tagpuno heads south to the sunny shores of Queensland with a singular intent - to dismantle one of the hottest prospects in Aussie boxing - Mr. Dana Coolwell.

The story goes like this :

TAGPUNO JR TAKES FEROCIOUS DOWN UNDER
It's the ignominious start to a pro boxing career that many must dread.
Abd it's the reason why all managers and promoters give their fighters easybeats when they first debut as professionals.

But there was no such soft path for "Ferocious" Fernando Tagpuno, who was to suffer defeats at his first two bouts when he met top flight Jonniel Laurente (8-1) and Daniel Nicolas (7-2).
The losses would make many question their career choice, but for Tagpuno Jr, he was simply emboldened.
VSP commented at the time that the performances were great, and despite the losses, this young fighter has a big future.
But Fernando Tagpuno needed to respond, and he did so, with FEROCIOUS intent.
Tagpuno siezed those early lessons, and then used them to batter 7 subsequent opponents !!
THAT'S SEVEN KNOCKOUTS IN A ROW !
And there are some pretty decent names in that hit list !

"Ferocious" Fernando has been rewarded for his escalating displays of violence with a title shot on March 23rd in Australia.
He is slated to take on outstanding indigenous prodigy Dana Coolwell for the IBO InterContinental Featherweight title in a bout that should blow the rafters off the Caloundra RSL Club.
"Deadly" Dana Coolwell rates as one of the most precocious talents in Aussie boxing, and was controversially defeated for a World Youth title while amasssing a 12-2 record. He is skilled, slick, and reminiscent of a young Paul Fleming.
The contrasting style of Tagpuno Jr will make it interesting - he brings pressure, and when he comes to your front door, he doesn't forget to knock. And he KNOCKS LOUD !!!
Great match up - Ferocious Fernando Tagpuno Jr v Deadly Dana Coolwell. Saturday March 23rd.

PHILIPPINES SET FOR AN AFRICAN SAFARI

Three weeks out and no signs of nerves, the Elorde team of Mark John Yap, Arnel Baconaje, JonJon Estrada and Jetro Pabustan (trainer) discuss articles of war for the RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO on March 30th.
The event will match many of Africa and Asia's best boxers against one another in Maun, Botswana - a location that is the gateway to the iconic Okavango Delta.
All three pinoy have significant tasks ahead.
JonJon Estrada takes on South African champion Jeff Magagane in the featherweight class.
Arnel Baconaje meets Steven Bagwasi, arguably the best boxer P4P in Botswana.
Mark John Yap appears in the main event - a WBF International title match against local star Moabi Ngaka.
The three Philippines 🇵🇭 boxers will be part of an Asian Team that includes China 🇨🇳, India 🇮🇳 and Vietnam 🇻🇳.

"BACONAJE WILL THINK HE'S IN WITH A LION"
March 2, 2024

"BACONAJE WILL THINK HE'S IN WITH A LION"

Take that sucker !
Steven Bagwasi confirms his status as one of, if not the, hottest properties in Botswana boxing, handing out another one sided beating.
Bagwasi will face Philippines super featherweight champion Arnel Baconaje at Maun Stadium on March 30th, and he is looking forward to the task with laser focus.
The boxer from Mahalapye was on the sidelines in 2023, but prior, had built an imposing 9-1 record. His lone loss was way back in 2018 by way of points to South Africa's champion Ayanda Nkosi (who was also WBF World Champion)
Many in Africa have a huge opinion of Steven Bagwasi, and likewise, he is a boxer with self belief.
"I will take Arnel Baconaje on a wild safari. When we are done, he will be thinking he is surrounded by lions. I am really looking forward to this one."

NGAKA TAUNTS MARK YAP TO GO TO WAR

Botswana’s Moabi "The Eagle" Ngaka " is a man well versed with the habitat of lions, and he will need to draw on all that hometown knowledge on March 30th when he steps into the ring with the Philippines' Mark John Yap.
The two boxers will contest the World Boxing Foundation International title - a main event contest over 10 rounds to decide the Super Featherweight champion.
And the task for Ngaka is daunting to say the least !

Despite being a talented member of the national team in Botswana, he has literally had to jump at the very limited pro opportunities that have come his way, amassing a 3-1 record. And if you include his bouts not listed in BoxRec, he is already 7-1.
There is no doubt that Moabi Ngaka has the makings of quality international boxer.
But against Mark John Yap - REALLY ?

It's just impossible to see that he has the experience to go with a man that has 17 years in the pro ranks, had an unbeaten run of 10 wins in Japan over 3 years where he tore some of their very best to shreds. Yap picked up three OPBF titles in a winning run that was finally ended in a points loss to world rated #2 Takuma Inoue.

But here's the interesting footnote - Moabi Ngaka specifically asked for the task ! There were a number of easier opponents that the African boxer could have taken, but he chose the Philippines Journey Man instead.

"I want Mark John Yap !! He is a warrior, so am I - so lets GO TO WAR !
I'm not here to play around, I train hard, and I fight harder. I want to test myself with real fighters, and they don't come any more real than Yap."

Those close to the Botswana boxer share his belief, and say he is ripe to pull off a big upset against his Philippines rival. Ngaka is renowned for his cardio and loose movement in the ring, and they are of the opinion that Yap will be air swinging on old legs in later rounds.

"I want everyone to tune in on March 30th - I will say that this will be a war, and I will drop Mark Yap. Maybe more than once. They will all be saying that the EAGLE HAS LANDED."

BACONAJE TO TAKE ON AFRICAN STAR
February 28, 2024

BACONAJE TO TAKE ON AFRICAN STAR

Classy Elorde boxer Arnel Baconaje will head to Botswana next month as part of a formidable Asian Team that will do battle with African nations.
"The Silencer" will take on Steven Bagwasi - a boxer that many rate as one of the most outstanding talents in Botswana.
Bagwasi has 8 wins on his resume, with only one loss, which was back in 2018 to South Africa's national champion Ayanda Nkosi.
But to tame a lion like Bagwasi, plenty of hard work and lots of skill will be required, and Arnel Baconaje "The Silencer" was working on both today. Mixing it up with Arnel in sparring at Elorde was Japanese visitor Reito Takahashi, a highly promising 135lb fighter.

WOLVERINE HEADS TO THE AFRICAN DELTA

Crowd pleasing brawler JonJon "the Wolverine" Estrada heads for the depths of Africa next month, when he stars at the RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO show on March 30th.
Estrada will take on the sharp shooting Jeff Magagane, a man who has long been touted as one of South Africa's major talents.
The boxer was rated as high as #1 at various stages of his career, but lack of consistency of regular bouts have conspired against him winning a major title.
Jeff Magagane goes by the ring name of "911" - which gives some obvious insights into his style, but this boxer is much much more.
He is tall, rangy, has great hands, and is really adept out of both stances. He mixes his speed and delivery so well that when he is "on", he is equal parts deceptive as he is elusive. And with only one fight in 2023, Magagane is determined to post an emphasis performance against Estrada and get back into the world rankings.
As for JonJon Estrada - well,it's business as usual !
He is well versed with taller and faster opponents - he will be a dangerous snake in the grass waiting to strike. This is a significantly important match for Estrada, and he is expected to be a heavy underdog in this bout.
But as you know with the heavy handed Wolverine - simply learn to expect the unexpected !!

VSP PRO "CLASSROOM" TO THE BIGTIME

Thai Hoang Huy gets rewarded for his improving performances in 2O23 with his first bout outside of the country.
Huy only began boxing 18 months ago, and was inspired to try the professional game after contesting an exhibition bout with Philippines' JonJon Estrada. The Wolverine gave him encouragement to keep training and stay busy, and he took the advice from the experienced Estrada.
Thai Hoang Huy has since won 4 from 6 in 2O23, yet it was in his most recent bout, that he got a lucky break.
Despite losing to Botswana champion Moabi Ngaka, the African liked what he saw, and requested for Huy to have an opportunity to fight abroad in Botswana.
RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO affords that opportunity, and on March 30th, Huy will join 3 other Vietnam 🇻🇳 boxers in an Asian team that will tackle the African nations.
Thai Hoang Huy meets Zambia 🇿🇲 hotshot David Kapusu, a quality prospect that won impressively at his debut.
VSP wish Thai Hoang Huy lots of luck with his fight in Botswana - draw your inspiration from the LIONS !

THE RUMBLE JUST KEEPS ON GETTING BETTER

Team Africa just received a huge boost with breaking news that Kagiso Bagwasi will be joining the fray at RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO.
Bagwasi is a 5-0 pro and a former amateur standout.
The Botswana boxer started his professional career in blazing fashion, winning three bouts in quick succession before calamity struck.
Bagwasi was the victim of a vicious knife attack, leaving him unconscious and in need of multiple surgeries.
It was doubtful whether the talented welterweight would be able to resume his career after bicep damage incurred in the incident, but Bagwasi shed the drama like it was a second skin. It's perhaps why he has earned the ring name "Reptile" !!
Kagiso resumed in 2O22,  and has been in stunning form - a shutout victory followed up by a stunning knockout win ( both on the road in Johannesburg) endorsed that the Reptile was better than ever !
This signing is a huge coup for Team Africa, and it will take a supernatural performance from any opponent to beat Kagiso Bagwasi on his home turf !

"MARK YAP WILL DROP. THIS IS WAR !"
February 19, 2024

"MARK YAP WILL DROP. THIS IS WAR !"

The main event boxer that will face the Philippines' Mark John Yap has made the bold prediction that he will drop his counterpart at least once in next month's headliner.
This is a view that's endorsed by many in Africa that think Yap will age overnight, and that he doesn't have the speed or legs to go with his younger opponent.

"Africa is different man. It's really hot here, we are used to it. And we have lots to deal with every day, fighting is what we love, and to have old men come to our backyard and beat us ? C'mon man, that just not gonna happen.
Yah eish we are lions and we hungry !
Yap is a good fighter, but he won't be good against me. But respect - I know he will try hard, he will do his best to make it good for the people watching"

Moabi Ngaka heads a team of 11 boxers from the African nations of Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe to fight in Maun on March 30th.
Mark John Yap and Moabi Ngaka will compete for the World Boxing Foundation title at 130lb.

HAFENI NGESHEYA: "OKAY - LET'S RUMBLE !"
February 17, 2024

HAFENI NGESHEYA: "OKAY - LET'S RUMBLE !"

The African nations are renowned for their athletic talent, and RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO will showcase many of the continent's best emerging stars.
Namibia 🇳🇦 Lightweight prospect Hafeni Ngesheya is known in his country as "The Mexican" - courtesy of his dogged and relentless style, and his penchant for body assaults.
The 25 year old was one of the first boxers selected for Team Africa, a squad that comprises countries South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.
Ngesheya is unbeaten in his professional career, boasting 6-0 with 3 knockouts on his resume, and he is just getting started !
RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO presents another exciting challenge and opportunity for the Namibian prospect, who was impressive in his two wins in the back end of 2023.
And the challenge and opportunity are extremely real (and formidable) - Ngesheya will take on the "Hanoi Hitman" Nguyen Van Hai - a real cornerstone for Team Asia.
But Namibia 🇳🇦 are known for great fighters, and you have to suspect that when Hafeni Ngesheya steps into that ring on March 30th, we will be left in no doubt as to why this hot prospect is called THE MEXICAN !!

Moabi "The Eagle" Ngaka is scheduled to fight the main event, a WBF International title match with one of the Philippines best performed international stars - Mark John Yap.
Thai Hoang Huy will be the least experienced of four Vietnam boxers who have been included in the TEAM ASIA squad.
Despite taking up boxing only 18 months ago, Huy has wasted no time, racking up 4 wins in 6 bouts in the space of a year. Not one to avoid a challenge, Huy will appear in the opening match against Namibia's highly promising David Kapusu, who scored impressively at his much awaited debut.

JonJon Estrada in inimitable form at the weigh-in just moments ago, ahead of tomorrow night's great card in Pasay City.

Estrada takes on the heavy handed Alvin Medura in a 6 round featherweight bout.
This is expected to be a smorgasbord of unbridled violence, as the Wolverine looks to redress a contentious last start defeat at the hands of Jhon Gemino.
A knockout result by either fighter would be no surprise, with the Wolverine being favoured to be last man standing !

Estrada will stay busy in 2024 - next month he heads to Botswana to be part of an All Stars Asian team that will fight African nations in the RUMBLE IN THE OKAVANGO on March 30th.

BOTSWANA SET TO WELCOME THE WOLVERINE

JonJon Estrada has some of the heaviest hands in the Philippines - and has the knockout stats to cure anyone's insomnia !
The predatory featherweight isn't known for his subtlety ot silky skills, but moreso for his ability to club opponents into submission.
And he's good at it too - 82% of the Wolverine's 17 victims have ended in a slumber.
Estrada fights heavy handed Alvin Medura next week in a prelude to a big international bout in the African jewel of Botswana on March 30th. And whilst it never pays to overlook an opponent, the Wolverine is planning to make Medura feel the wrath of a man who was controversially "beaten" at his most recent bout.
Estrada took on the high ranking Jhon Gemino in a rugged bout where he appeared to significantly outwork and outland Gemino, only to have a point deducted controversially for a low blow. The penalty made the difference, and the Wolverine was edged by split decision.
The Wolverine has vowed to make a statement in Pasay City next week, and then turn his attention to the Okavango delta.
JonJon Estrada will be part of a team out of Asia that will go head to head with some of Africa's most exciting fighters.
As for excitement, fans of the Wolverine know, he never fails to bring the BIG DRAMA SHOW !

YAP PUTTING MILES IN THE LEGS FOR AFRICA

YAP PUTTING MILES IN THE LEGS FOR AFRICA

African boxers are famed for their athleticism, their cat like reflexes, but even moreso, their crazy endurance.
Their boxers have great lungs, which makes them ever so hard to beat in longer fights.
And Mark John Yap heads to Botswana on March 30th for a leg sapping 10 round classic with local star Moabi Ngaka.
Ngaka is fabled for his cardio, and rises at 4am to knock off 20km road runs before the sun beats hard.
Well two can play at that game !
The "Journey Man" Mark John Yap competed in the Cagayan de Oro "marathon" earlier today, landing a top five finish in the 10km road race. And the good news is, he was doing his best work at the finish.
Yap will spearhead a top international team in Botswana Africa next month, and is adament that he will have the legs to go with a younger and hungry Moabi Ngaka.
Ngaka has already raised eyebrows stating he will drop Yap, and make a statement win that will shock Asia.
But dropping Yap will be no easy feat !
Mark John Yap has 34 wins on his resume, with his only losses in recent years being against unbeaten and world rated opponents. Often these were bouts taken at extremely short notice, or out of his weight class. He also has plenty of firepower of his own, sending 17 opponents to the canvas.
The war of words has only just begun !

VSP PROMOTIONS GOES ON SAFARI

The river town of Maun in the African country of Botswana is the gateway to the Okavango delta.
This is a lush wildlife habitat steeped in rich history, and known as possessing some of the most beautiful wetlands in the world.
It is also home to some of the most deadly and dangerous animals on the planet !

And they don't get more gnarly and fierce than Cagayan de Oro son MARK JOHN YAP !!

Yap has earned the monicker of the "Journey Man" and he truly lives up to that reputation this coming March.
Mark John Yap heads to the backyard of Botswana champion Moabi Ngaka on a seek and destroy mission, and will headline a huge international event.
The "Rumble in the Okavango" show will be the biggest boxing in African history, and will include stars from the Philippines, China, Vietnam and India - pitted against Botswana’s hungry lions.

There is already massive interest out of Botswana to bet any amount of money to say that their boy will drop Mark John Yap to the canvas.
